Probably moving to Lake Norman area and hunting for property this summer...

I'm pretty sure that it varies by county. In Wake county, which is where Raleigh is, I believe it comes out to around $0.73 on every $100. I know that I just bought a Ducati and I paid a 3% highway usage tax or some crap on that. I really am not too sure though. I'll be getting property tax crap on the Ducati soon and I will let you know.

Bob, I live in the Lake Norman area in Huntersville which is in Mecklenburg county. I dug up an old property tax bill (from 2002) on my 1986 328 GTS and it was about $200; however, they have the tax value of the car listed at $18,800!! In 2002, the Mecklenburg county tax rate was .8397 per $100. The Huntersville tax rate was .26 per $100. Mecklenburg has the highest tax rate of any county around here. If you are looking to live on Lake Norman, you have three other counties as options.... Iredell, Catawba, and Lincoln county. I'm sure their rates are a good deal less.

From a real estate stand point, the best value for waterfront property on Norman (in my opinion) is the Western side of the lake with includes both Lincoln and Catawba counties. Denver, NC is a good area that has a lot of shoreline and relatively undeveloped property still available. The Northern side of the Lake is also a good area with a lot of property options. The commute to Charlotte can be a bear though!

On a Ferrari note, we have a local (informal) Ferrari club around Charlotte called CAFE (Charlotte Area Ferrari Enthusiasts). We are just a buch of guys who enjoy getting together, having lunch, talking cars, and DRIVING. If you move here, you should definitely hook up with us. Bob, absolutely gorgeous color on the spider! I did not notice any chips missing on the nose. Do you get to drive her much? If you bring her down when you come later this summer, be advised that the North Carolina back roads are notorious for adding character to the nose. Wait until you see mine. There are lots of "enthusiasts" in NC, some of which you would have to classify as crazy. (See JackRusselRacing's Kart thread.) I hope you get to meet us all at some time in the future.
