So Michael, what do you say to holding on to the GT4 for a tiny bit and maybe selling it to me in a while?
listen to the Judge ....... i am fixing the little things and changing all the fluids and filters on the car. car will be for sale in the next few weeks for around $17,000 OBO. i will make a few bucks, learn a few things and be that much closer to a 512 BB or a early carb Countach. i am leaning towards the dark side to a Countach, since they are a boyhood fantasy of mine. local PPI can be arranged at Andy Green Racing, Pooler GA. he did the belt service in november on the GTB, which also needs to go to a new home. after i get a Lamborghini i will get another 3x8 series carb car. i also want a Lotus Turbo SE happy 4th of July to all.
I hate to admit it but I have been Jonesin' for a Countach since boyhood as well. I looked at one (not seriously) last week. Man, what an outrageous car! Birdman
i am jealous ...... i dont know of any here i can even look at close , much less ride / drive in.......
bird/reapper, you two are too much like me. I too have a C/T fetish. Only thing stopping me is $$$. Someday though. The C/T engine sounds like hell on fire.
I think we're all alike. I really like the countach as well. Ever since I saw and heard a white carbed countach when I was thirteen I was hooked. That was/still the coolest sounding car I've ever heard. The place where I bought my 308 from did a service on an anniversary countach a few months ago. I happened to go in there to schedule my car in for service when the mechanice told me about it, he said I just missed it. He said it was his favorite car until he drove it. He said it had a lot of balls, but it drove like a truck. After that he drove it he said it wasn't his favorite anymore. He said the ferraris drive much better.
Many people really speak negatively about the Countach....especially the later models with all the spoilers. Every time I read an article they get plenty of negative press. If you saw the last Barret Jackson one of the commentators ( I think his name is Allen Decatenas) just blasted the car. He is the Enlish guy who does the Victory by Design Videos and loves all cars but not the Countach.
The analogy I heard was comparing the Countach and the 512 BB. In essence, the test driver said that the faster the Countach was driven the worse it drove whereas the faster the 512 BB was driven the better it drove. Something to do with aerodynamic failure and low polar moment causing the CT to wander at high speeds. I'm sure there is someone out there that has driven both and can comment better than I. As cool as the CT looks I would rather spend the money on a 512 TR.
yea i know the car may have inherent "issues", and its not as nice as a Diablo 6.0 ect, but i have always wanted one. i dont believe the world will be the same when i am older, so i dont want any regrets. i would rather have one, and then let it go, than to not own one. perhaps i can arrange a test drive of one later this summer......... Dino is doing well, will update later.
well so far i have cleaned the Dino up a bit. the airhorns were not working, i cleaned the connections, replaced the horn relay and oiled the pump and the horns work. i still cant get the Right cooling fan to come on. JFRAZAR and i have a theory as to why my Dino runs so much cooler than either his GTS or my GTB. the huge vent in the bonnet must really help with the cooling effectivity of the radiator. i really need to flush to collant in the Dino as it looks / smells old, but the car runs nice and cool, and the left fan works when its supposed to. i will straight wire the RH fan and see if its a wiring or fan motor issue. i recieved Birdmans fuseboxes right on time, but i have not had time to install them this week as my friend Heather has been here for a few days. i am hoping the small things and the window switch will be here from ferraripartsexchange monday or so. the dash lights wont work at all. all the fuses are ok, the fuseblocks in the car are in excellent condition, but i plan on installing Birdmans anyway. i am thinking that the dash rheostat for the gauge lights is part of the problem. the Dino dash looks like its going to be a pain to work behind. i am going to bypass the rheostat and install new Sylvania bulbs and ring out all the wiring with my multimeter. i need to get a nice Fluke meter again... my other one died . i changed the plugs in the Dino, rear bank is a bit rich, and i am taking out the 190 air correctors and putting in 200's or 220's. the car is set up the same way as the GTB, and it runs fine. carbs are slightly out of balance, me thinks. more later .....
leaned out the rear bank 1/8 a turn, car runs great. rh cooling fan is dead, but the car runs really cool anyway as the left one works fine. the car is now on Ferrariads for $16,900 i can arrange a local PPI at Andy Green Racing. i want a Lamborghini, both the Ferrari's need to go. the GTb is now reduced to $27,900 . been fun but i am bored. Michael
When I saw it, I couldn't believe how low it is. That thing is like 4 inches lower than my 308 at the roof, and my 308 is lower than average. The front bumper is totally useless....it's like 3 inches off the ground.
