I almost had my license suspended over here in St. Tammany. I got a ticket on I-12. My lawyer called the DA and got a new court date. I stopped by the DA's office about a month later to get another little summons slip with my new court date on it. They told me that my court date had passed and I didn't show so they were going to suspend my license. After telling them that it was continued they called some guy who found my paperwork on his desk. They had forgotten to put it in the computer or file it or something.

I've heard a couple of horror stories about the central lockup in nola. That isn't anywhere I would want to be. One guy I know got picked up on a saturday night b/c he was drunk in the quarter and called a cop an a$$ho!e. The next morning he called his dad who called a judge and got him released on a Sunday. The cops didn't like that too much, him being "special" and getting out on a Sunday so they took the entire day to process everything. From what he told me the guards roughed him up a little and some guy tried to steal his shoes while he was asleep. It was his stupidity that got him locked up though so.....

Ive never been to jail, I cant imagine how bad that would look seeing as im 16.

Surprising however, Ive been threatened to be taken to jail or juvenile hall for completley stupid reasons, and most likely, officers just overabusing their authority over minors.

I have been threatened to be taken to jail for being at the scene of a fight...well actually I and about 30 other people scattered when we saw the cops, natural reaction if you think about it (and of course I was one of the 3 or 4 kids that took the wrong turn and ran straight into the officers) So I guess that could be scene as some lame reason for me and my friends to be taken to jail until our parents picked us up.

However.... there was one time where I was pretty damn unlucky. My friend Reed who thought he was some sort of badass would carry a decently sized knife on him and would always start something with somebody, funny, you expect the kids who look for fights to be able to back it up, I think ol' Reed may have been 5'2 pushing a buck 10 back in the 8th grade.
Well, one night he got into a fight with a kid who knew he had the knife, he told Reed no because he had a knife on him....whos Reed hand the knife too? Yup, me. Well they fought, he lost and the cops got word of this....Im walking into some resturant nearby without Reed but still with his Knife and im then approched by a cop and a friend of the kid Reed just fought.

    "Alex...?"

    (me)---....Yes?...

"You wouldnt happen to know where Reed is would you?"

    (me) "no....."

"do you have anything of Reeds?"

(me pulling and obvious scared sh*tless 8th grader move)"no, what did Reed have?"

"A blade, and Micheal here says your carrying that blade, do you have that blade?"

    (me) "Well.....yes"

the officer proceded to handcuff me, take Reeds knife, put me into the back of his squad car and wrote me a ticket for concealed weapon and some other minor offences that I didnt think were necessary. I had a schedueled court date all that and then some person, who I never did find out who by the way, told the officer I had nothing to do with the whole situation and the officer decided to let me off. I dont really talk to Reed anymore.

probably the closest I came to going to jail or to a holding cell or anything of the sort

Busted for curfew violation on an overseas military base late one night after visiting a lady friend. My father and I had a misunderstanding and he told me to walk home. I was picked up by an MP while walking.
Wasn't actually thrown in a cell, despite my father *insisting* they lock me up until the morning. They just held me at the front desk for a couple hours and made my father come pick me up at 3:00am. He wasn't happy, but took it amazingly well. He just said, "Don't ever let this happen again," and never gave me crap about it again.

Never been on the bad side of the bars, but have visited a few times folks who were.

Also, as a kid, got a guided tour of the Roundhouse, Philly's main police station and lockup from the architect who designed it, just as construction was being completed. Even brand new, clean and tidy, it was depressing.

Also went to Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly with a photographer in the 70's. That was one scary place. Here's an outside view, and one of Al Capone's cell.

Once, for all of 1 hour in 'book & release' for some trumped up charges.

Made up for it when I accused the DA of Prosecutorial Misconduct for even persuing the matter. The judge agreed and charges were dismissed & expunged.

I am still waiting for the letters of appology the judge instructed be written :)

The over nighters were mostly just protective custody and a few minor in possession of alcohol, pot charges and a disorderly or two. Nothing big, just a teenager having fun. Big ones came later which was actually 3 different sentences of two years in the house of correction , was from a very messed up period in my life. Had two different surgeries with lots of pain killers prescribed then throw in a messy divorce at same time and I became hooked and got busted buying two 500 bottles of percocet. also they don't like it when you grind off the serial numbers of your own guns to trade for drugs. Cleaned up my act and not even a speeding ticket in the last 12 years

Congratulation, sincerely, Scott. You have much to be proud of with your turnaround. With all of those things going on in your life, a lot of people would not have been able to reverse the slide.

    1. In college, on a weekend trip in some guy's Winnebago. We were drinking and decided to stop at a mall in Indiana. I was a little buzzed and saw this big cement outdoor ashtray that I thought would make a nice addition to the RV, so I took it. We drove off but were pulled over a few miles down the road. I ended up getting hauled off (somebody ID'd me) and transferred to the La Porte County Prison for a couple days. Fun.

2.Trying to unload a single extra ticket outside Comiskey Park on opening day a few years ago. I literally held it up when a guy asked me if it was for sale. I responded with "Yeah..." CUFFED!! Off to jail for the afternoon with all the scalpers. They even took my shoelaces so I couldn't hang myself. What really pissed me off was that I was going to give the ticket away...

If it does I got one of them also, Think it was called a Section 30 here in MA, Calls for holding up to 30 days for evaluation. Got out in less than a week. So at least I can say I am certifiably ok.

Wait a second, isn't only selling ABOVE MSRP scalping?

If you never even exchanged a price, then it had to be thrown out.

NJSA 39:3-40. This section states, "no person to whom a drivers license has been refused or whose driver's license or reciprocity privilege has been suspended or revoked or who has been prohibited from obtaining a driver's license, shall personally operate a motor vehicle during the period of refusal suspension, revocation or prohibition."

Extra points though for getting locked up with a Sesame Street character!!!

Wow, when I was a little kid I met Gordon one time at the Anatole Hotel here in Dallas... my Dad was the GM of a hotel in the same area and he was visiting their GM, and I guess I was tagging along.

Maybe Mr. Hooper was selling more than Groceries! :)
