Checked out MIle 0 of TransCanada in Victoria today. Headed as far west as I am going over at Tofino, interesting twisty road (highway 4). Very challenging to drive with lots of traffic and poor road surface. I think the drivers here have death wishes.. not much respect for others on the road. Doesn't seem to be any bugs here to splatter all over my car either what's with that? 698km's today and no bugs to wash off I like it! Spotted my first ferrari in Victoria.. a red 328GTS.. twins LOL Long day tomorrow... hope to make Calgary.

Did you get a chance to stop at Long Beach? That place is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. I dont think it even compares to some of the beachs in Hawaii. You werent on the Ferry that crunched all those boats in Horse Shoe bay were you?

Headed out from Sidney, destination Calgary.. where I will take a day off and get organized for a dash across the prairies, will be stopping a ZR to get a couple of little issues looked at. Spotted my 2nd Ferrari at Chilliwack; a red (what else?) 308. Headed up the old No 1 from Hope to Cache Creek.. great road but a couple of construction stops amounting to about 2.5 hrs of lost time. Traffic wasn't too bad, the only issue I have is the RV drivers who think it is there right to pass semis going up hill at 30kmh... holding up huge rows of traffic and then coasting down the passing lanes downhill at 140 so no one can pass them... oh well.. out of the hills tonight and on to the flatland on Wednesday....

Spent Tuesday in Calgary, Headed east Wednesady AM. After BC the drive was very boring, 4 lane almost all the way to Manitoba border and no twisties LOL. Very little traffic to deal with either almost have to wonder why it is 4 lane...

Overnight in Virden, a small oilpatch town in Manitoba and headed in to Winnipeg. The flooding here in quite dramatic and I haven't made it to Winnipeg yet. Stopped at Manitoba Agricultural Museum... great warehouse, lousy museum... needs some work on the interpretive side. It sure seems there isn't a lot of interesting stuff to take pictures of along the prairie TransCanada Highway, seen a bit seen it all LOL. Went out with a friend for a night tour of Winnipeg... seems like a nice enough city.

Spent morning in Winnipeg... checked out downtown... Portage and Main certainly wasn't cold more like +30, went for a boat tour.. saw more flood damage... Winnipeg is a pretty laid back city, no hustle like in Calgary or the lower mainland of BC, and like the license plate says the people have been very friendly, I like it so far. Headed out to Ontario and it was nice to get into the Canadian Sheild and leave the prairie behind... back to twisty rolling roads instead of straight flat landscape. After this, driving on the prairie might never be fun ever... Made it to Thunderbay, going to check out the lakers in the morning.. should be interesting and then get on the road again
Going to have to find a place to get an oil change soon...
760 kms today, 5461 total so far

The plan is to check out Thunder Bay, go see the big boats (lakers) and the grain elevators then head to Ottawa. Trying to find someone who knew where to go to see the lakers at the elevators was impossible so I just drove down to the industrial area by the water, turns out you can't get very close to the boats, elevators or water.. this must not be a tourist attraction in Thunderbay... but it took me a considerable amount of time to find this out. There is a harbor tour that would work but it only goes once a day and I missed it. LOL OH well... That's when the rest of the plan screwed up too, as I headed out the first sign says 700 kms to Sault Ste. Marie.. I guess that is where I want to go to today... and that's what happened. The road through Northern Ontario is a lot longer than I anticipated. Stopped at the Terry Fox memorial just out of Thunder Bay, where his run ended, it is an impressive site, very well done. The drive by the lake is nice and you have lots of time to enjoy it between the tourists, construction and the OPP (education through enforcement). In the drive today I saw more police patrols than I have in the last year... OPP seems to have two officers in every car also. Will see if Sault Ste Marie is better to get near the lakers than Thunder Bay was... all the boats have to go throught the locks here to get from Huron to Superior.

Started the day out by going to the locks in Sault Ste. Marie.. still no lakers, none appeared to be travelling through this morning. Drove around a bit and discovered a pier with a couple of smaller frieghters and was able to walk right up to them...even though they were small they are still pretty fair sized boats. Headed out to Sudbury and had a look at the BIG NICKEL. The Trans Canada Highway gets interesting in Ontario... it definately isn't a premium highway like an interstate... I chose to go down the Georgian Bay Route towards Ottawa. The road is two lane for most of the way and meanders in and out of the sheild, through farm land and cottage country. Speed limit is 80 kms and slows through each little town it passes though. There are many traffic control lights at each highway it intersects also. Pretty difficult to make good time on this stretch. Turned out to be be pretty much a slow relaxing drive. Had my first incident today.. got run off road onto gravel shoulder by a pickup passing on a double solid on a blind curve... that was the thrill for the day.. don't need any more like that. Will be staying over in Brockville for a couple of days visiting friends. Over 7000 kms so far.

Day off in Brockville. Wash car, things starting to look pretty grunchy. Maurice will have his hands full detailing the car when I get back...LOL. They have a HUMIDEX thing here... kind of like WIND CHILL at home... today it was high, seems like 45 degrees.. needless to stay it is very hot inside a 328. Spent afternoon at park down by river.

Head out to Ottawa... check out the Parliament Buildings and downtown Ottawa. Quick lunch and Montreal is next... will be staying over in Montreal to get oil change tomorrow. Saw my 3rd Ferrari on the trip, a red 360 headed up the highway to Ottawa. Driving here is going to be more of a challenge due to the lack of English on the highway signs, bilingual abilities definately help here.. but I won't be here long enough to hone my skills.

Got the oil change done at Auto Bugatti. Very reasonable rate for Ferrari service, less than it takes to get my Chev worked on in Lloydminster. Overnight in Edmundston, NB

    8184 kms so far.

I think my mom may have seen you today... She was on Cote de Liesse where Auto Bugatti is, and she told me she saw a Ferrari. Will you be in Nova Scotia at all next week? I leave for NS on Saturday.
