Only downside to cable is, when it goes down, you dont have a backup access. There's no dial up provided as a back up for cable.

And of course, the cable never goes out in your neighborhood, right?

I have dsl and i keep getting 722 and 133. Damn cable is fast, but I'm happy with dsl, as long as it takes under 1 second to get onto the internet I'm happy.

I like DSL, but a nice set of satellites never hurt.

Back 3 years ago, DSL beat the snot outta cable. This has changed.

    Comcast's 6000/748k is really awesome.

    Especially the UPLOAD speed.

Doesn't cable pick up speeds in the long run?

I would go with cable. It is much faster and if you sign up with a VOIP provider you will get better sound quality. The downside is if there is a power outage the cable will be out where the regular phone lines will not. In that case you can still go to the old dial up modem.

Since you are moving I would really look into VOIP. It allows you to keep the same phone number no matter where you move and my service is great. I was paying about 80.00 a month and now only 20.00. There are a lot of providers so compare. Here is a good site that lets you look at all the major players before you decide.

I have Comcast cable. It's works okay now, but a few months ago it kept going down. Consequently, I've also got dialup as a backup.
