Does anyone wanting to by a Ferrari have to get approval to by one? I can see an Enzo or any other high end Ferrari but, an F430 or 360? Now don't get me wrong, Ferrari is one of the most wanted cars besides Porsche that is for sale at your local Ferrari dealer and the dealer is there to sell cars. Do the dealers ask the person if he or she is a "Poser"?

What do you consider "approval". The dealer ultimately decides who they want to sell to so I guess in a sense if they don't approve of you, they don't have to sell the car to you and use whatever reason they want to in order to not deliver a car to you (you are in 1000th place in line, all allocations are spoke for, etc.). The dealer can set also set conditions to selling you a car - a local f-chatter just took delivery of a 430...the dealer said they wanted him to trade in his current 360 in order to get it (which is what he did. He said it was worth it in order to get the 430 he wanted).

to clear a few things up... i haventy read the whole thread, but there is no longer an admission fee at the dealer. secondly, the man in question did not verify that he was a high roller, as he had just come on to property, so the salespeople had no way of knowing if he was serious or not. also, i read someone say they sell used ferraris, because new ones have a waiting list, and i know they have a few 430's currently for sale to be driven home. and as for everyone thinking this dealer is bad, you only hear the bad stories, from pompus a-holes that deserved what they got, such as the f-chatter who was escorted out by sdecurity because he thought he was, excuse my language, big ****. you dont hear good stories about the dealer, such as how good thier service is, and so forth, because no one feels the need to report it, not newspapers anyways, all they want is to make the dealer look bad and report bad things about it.

Same thing happened to me. I guess i didnt fit the "buyer" profile so therefore, i wasn't worth talking to.

That may have not been the case, but it is sure how the salesperson made me feel. Needless to say, thats all it took for me. If and when i buy a ferrari, it wont be there.

Before I let this get under my skin again I want to make one point.... The very nature of this discussion is what I was talking about. We actually have people here that are defending a business for passing judgement on it's customers. The same people are also defending a stance that says "some people aren't the kind they want driving a Ferrari". GROW UP. It's just a car and no matter how badly you might wish and hope the price of entry has gone down. Anyone that can afford a upper end Nissan can buy a Ferrari and park next to you at "the club". Also.... between the Lotto and all the game shows, poker tours and instant fame many end up buying your precious upper end cars. To hear some idiot whine about how someone more deserving might miss out on his right to own the newest model because a lesser person had the money and got there first.... thats just assinine. I am certain that the poker winner found a dealer that was happy to sell him a car. What did one nit wit here call it.... Mc Millionares?... Got a small clue for that person... in the history of man most of the truely wealthy started out as thugs and robbers. The Richest men in this countries history had little education but bettered themselves and their families as time went on. I only hope that I get to meet that Poker player on the next Player's Rally.... you all should come.... meet some REAL owners.

Forgive me for not being able to take you seriously, "Rollers", but that doesn't mean much at all coming from someone who reintroduced himself to the group with his very first post by saying, "Look! I have Bora, Merak SS, Europa, Esprit, Turbo Esprit, 911SC, 308GTS and Mondial 3.2 tattooed on my penis! See how big it is??"

And then has the utter gall, in addition, to follow that admittedly-paraphrased statement, in the same breath, telling the 'rest of us' to "get over [our]selves".

The sound you hear is not that of people laughing *with* you...

By the way, the word is 'glean'.

I think it's time to lock this thread. The article upon which it's based has been discredited anyway.

Lz, no offense taken... after all, you are not even an owner so you still have no clue what is it like. As for this thread being "discredited".... not sure where that comes from... many have posted that the dealer acted like ******. "Perhaps if he had called and made an appointment"....ROFL... what crap. I agree that some posted that they don't mind being treated like low rents by dealers. But if you read this and search the posts, many say the same about several F car dealers.
My only advice for you is to go, today, and buy any of the "Mischief" DVD's. I was lucky enough to be part of one of the Players Runs and got to meet the young men that put those discs together. They did a great job of capturing the feel and fun of being with real car people. To be honest, they did not show any of what goes on each night of the run. I was not on the run that ended up with the BMW getting punted off road by a Semi and a F50 getting it's nose sand blasted but the spirit was exactly the same. Believe me... there are many that drive use their exotics the way they were meant to be used...

Interesting judgments as well as alliance with the dealer from someone whom does not even own an F-car calling other owners names. Maybe if you kiss up long enough they will let you clean their cars at the Wynn dealership. I think calling other owners and chatters "pompus a-holes"(use spell check its a good tool) is uncalled for. In your post you proclaim that the chatter wanted to make the dealer look bad seemingly as a fact. How would anyone benefit from doing that and what would their motive be Nova man? I would personally cut my arm off prior to buying a car from those folks.

There are many places one can buy a F-car from give or take a couple percent in cost. What separates them is the service IMO. Many times I would rather pay a couple of extra bucks and get the better service. This is not exclusive to F-cars but more inclusive of them.

dont hate the player hate the game if you must hate at all

Vern nice spike.... you can't attack my logic so you fall back on personal attacks. Now that's adult. Perhaps I can put you in touch with some of the owners I know here in Fla.... I met one very nice Buffet fan that does slides ( al la Magnum) every time he leaves the bars. And another owner in Naples that uses his 360 to kick the ricers on I-75. Both are successful, college educated men... one in his late 30's and the other is in his 40's. Then again.... you will never get it..... so I will go and enjoy the Fla sun.... drive down to the beach later and have afew late afternoon Corona's with lime.

FWIW, I was there in May for a storage conference.

    No problem getting in.

No problem with the sales dept.

No problem setting up service, ( I was going to take the ferrari and get an oil change while I was there but I did not take the car)

I got a tour of the shop

I got a tour of the REAL sales floor

Got a free soda from the sales dept.

Got a free 1:18 Enzo Model for my 7 year old. They offered, I did not ask for it, and they knew I only had a 308 and I was not in the market for anything else.

I ran into none of the crap posted on this thread.

I SOOOO agree, I did not read the whole thread until this morning.

I did not have any issues nor did any other fchatter that has been there that I know.

Another case of people talking about rumors about things they heard third hand from their friends, best friends roomate that dated this girl who's dad worked with this guy that lived down the street from this other guy that was married to this woman who heard.....

And as a note... I am not saying that Wynn is awful or treats customers badly everyday. My point is that to treat ANY customer badly is unacceptible. Selling Ferrari's or buying one is not an act of GOD. I would bet it is alot harder right now to get a new Ford GT than a used 360. I was at Shelton for the 550 Barchetta roll out... same hype.. as if we were seeing the Virgin Mary appear on a piece of toast. My wife and I enjoyed the afternoon and looked around abit but left both agreeing that it was no big deal. It was more fun hanging out with Cliff and Tim at Stanfords shop amid some truely amazing cars ( 2 dinos, an original 6 light 365 and an amazing Daytona coupe) while they worked on some of the newer cars and talked about the issues that come up. I grew up hanging out in shops that welcomed me and made me feel that my Junior sports car ( usually a Fiat or 914 or TR6) was okay. The same shop that worked on my 914 took me for my first ride in a 930 and then let me drive it back! I welcome first time owners and encourage all the young guys that work for me to not buy the newest WRX or Evo... I tell them to spend the same money and get a 308 or 911. I just hope that when they scrape together the money that they don't get treated like that high roller did. I would hate to think that, in the end, most Ferrari owners are effete f**king snobs.

I said the "article" had been discredited. The thread is just a bunch of senseless bickering.

I have read some negatives about Wynn, but usually it is buy someone who walks in off the street trying to buy a F430. I have also read some very good comments about Wynn, so I won't be passing judgment.
