Hi all, Just found out I have to do some work on my 308 pronto: How much does it cost to get ALL of the bushings replaced on the car? Just the labor. I will have hard numbers on parts from Trutlands soon enough. I am not looking for opinions, I am looking for experienced answers. How much should a major including all seals cost? Again, no parts included, just labor. This would be an engine out as the bell housing is leaking. (sure will be cool to see the engine out of the car!...ouch on the wallet though ) I suspect I will be in a multiple negotation situation tomorrow with my mechanic.
I posted a reply on your other thread. You can call me if you want I'll PM you my phone number and tell you where it was done.
locally here in So Cal,my mechanic charges $2995 for 30k service, including parts. google on eugenio's ferrari service for his web site, he posts all his prices, this could be some help to you in the "negotiations" Good luck!
Cost me $1000 labor alone to have a mechanic replace all 16 of my a-arm bushings. The bushings cost $21 each... ouch.............. Greg 77 308
Went and picked up the car today. This is a case of super anal mechanic syndrome. Sure, the stuff he found is old (20 years old) but it has not failed. Yes, it leaks oil and it would be nice if it did not. All nice to dos. Pass. Thanks a ton for the information guys. I had it this morning when I picked up the car.
I was able to do all the bushings myself. 87 328. It took me one day per corner. A large vise was my friend for pressing back in new bushings from Nick's Forza. Angle grinder for cutting welds and and cheepo wire feed welder for tacking in new bushings. Take your time. You learn off the first one. It's a great confidence builder. The prices quoted for having the job done was motivation enough for me to do my own. Just follow things logically and pay attention. You can do it !
Damn Mike, that's a cheap mechanic! I'm not a mechanic, but I sure wouldn't do the job for $500! Birdman
Umm, Neither the major, pulling the bell housing, or even removing the bell housing spacer require pulling the engine. What's the nature of the bell housing leak? The possibilities are: - Transfer case input shaft seal - Rear main (crankshaft) seal - Bell housing-transmission o-rings - Bell housing spacer-block gasket leaking.
