Group B was special ! I think F1 would have the same problems if spectators lined the course. But of all time its got to be CAN-AM !!!!!! Can you say Shadow ?

I liked it a lot and after they got rid of it Rally Championship lost all interest for me. Not that I wanted to see blood, but those tamed down Citroens and Peugeots simply don't do it for me after having watched Audi Quattros and Lancia Deltas.

And I would have loved to see the 288 GTO race. Even if that would have meant dismal failure against the mighty 959.

    Ave spectator, morituri te salutant.

Today's machines are vastly more crash-worthy than the killer B's, but even the current WRC class machines are pushing the envelope of sanity.

Keeping the car safely inside its limits is commuting, not racing. But when a single error means certain (or highly likely) death, the chances of seeing drivers pushing the envelope is greatly reduced ... at least, once you run out of drivers willing to take the risk.

Rally used to be victory going to the fewest mistakes. Survival going to zero mistakes is just russian roulette.

    And it costs you friends.

    Good riddance to bad rubbish.
