348 Team, have a question? I love my 348. I was thinking of a upgrade. Might have a chance to grab a 93 348ts Speciale. Major was done to the car with full records. Tubi and race pipes. F40 Carbon Fiber Race Buckets. Concourse Winner. Car only has 12k. Car is all orginal and perfect in every way. Red and Tan. They want $75,000! Is that crazy? Or should I just keep my 89ts and be happy. I made my 348 a exact copy of a speciale even went as far as getting the leather door panels inserts like the speciale instead of the carpet that comes on regular 348's, my car also has a tubi and race pipes, plus the speciale paint job look a like, Red and Tan with 19k, major just done and own the car clear and free and it is really nice, no problems. Should I go for it or just be happy? Is the Speciale WORTH IT? Will the Speciale go up in value in time? Is the upgrade worth it for me? Looking for some feed back.

Speaking from UK perspective, a Speciale or Competizione do have the exclusivity that comes with the limited editions. With an immaculate car like that I would have thought it would fetch around £38k which is approx $69k.

If you could get it for $70k it doesn't sound too silly a price. Cannot comment on the difference in performance against yours though. If you have spent a lot on yours getting it to the spec you want, it would be a case of how much it will cost you again to swap to the real thing - i suspect around $18k? In which case, maybe best to stick with what you have.

    Just my thoughts.

Stick with what you've got. If I read this correctly, you already have a 348 that's the same color, bought and paid for, and you know the history/service. Why buy another 348 and go into debt when it's almost the same as what you've got. the Speciale is a little nicer, but it sounds like you've already morphed yours into one. I think 65,000.00 would be a good price, 75 G's is out of the park.

If you have no problems with your 348, I'd say stick with yours. You never know with these darn 348s. A good 348 is a gem, but a bad one... oh, a bad one is BAD.

Now if you had the chance to get a 1994 Speciale ts, that might be different. The 1994 models have an upgraded engine and other improvements.

As much as I love the speciale....I would drive it first and see if its worth the difference. If you have already gone through the trouble to sweet your car up, I would probably stay with what you have. If its been good to you up until now, I would suspect it will continue to for many years to come.
    Good luck !

If the car is in PA - I considered it as well. It is in amazing shape. $75k is way to steep. The car is simply not worth that much. You could buy a 355b, a mint, mint 348 spyder. $65k is about the max you should pay for it.

Ferrari's are always an emotional purchase/reward, so go with what you *want*, but that being said...

To me, there are two reasonable upgrades from your 348 TS, either a 348 Spider or a 348 Competitizione (360 factory hp).

Your TS with track pipes will have more hp than that SS with cats. Why go slower?! Why pay more if you are going to have to start modifying your new car?!

    Same look, really.

If you want more of the open air, go with the Spider. If you want more hp, then go with the Competitizione.

I have to say, though, that the carbon fibre seats in that SS are tempting.

As for prices, several F-chatters have been charting the auction prices and 348's have been flat for the past year...indicating that 348 prices have bottomed finally (so no surprise that dealers are starting to price up).

It sounds like for you, it may not be worth it, considering you practically have it already. But, I don't think $70-75 is all that unrealistic for a 348 S.S. Considering there are only 115 of them out there, I won't be surprised to see the price go up more over the years. Your local supermarket has more bottles of Corona, stocked, on the shelf at any given time than there are these cars. It may be a tad high now, but in time, I doubt it will decrease. It's the best of a classic design. These are the best of the 348's, and they made plenty of upgrades to make the car more "speciale" than the regular 348's. If they had just done a couple of insignificant changes, I doubt it would get much more attention than the regular.

practically.?. well i have a 1994 ss , dont regret it one bit. i dint pay 75k , but not too much less. a few of the others i know that were recently purchased werent too far off either .. so i guess its a good price for negotiation.
