Look Rob I have no problems with Fchat or you personally - i dont know you. Just some clarification required: On one hand you tell us not to swear or flame and then you use the word beginning with P and provide some fairly ott and aggressive responses. You mention respect for you,the community, the mods, but some of your responses fall short of respect. I love your site, i like the people and enjoy the banter. I will abide by its rules.Sorry for having an opinion.
Rob, I think this sums up my feelings also, but will not apologise for having an opinion. You've been caught out by the UK reaction. As Sletti has said elsewhere, chill out, we are a good bunch of guys who support the Ferrari community whole heartedly but will not take unnecessarry critisism lightly. You've built up a great domain, don't lose sight of that. You may not of heard of Gerald Ratner in the US, but take heed of bad press and misplaced comments!
Rob, I have thought long and hard and grown more and more angry with every post where you have lambasted the UK users who are only sticking up for a buddy. I have felt intimidated by your comments and have noticed a lot of regular posters have refrained from replying probably because they too feel afraid of recriminations. It's obvious that you insist on having the last word and that that word is gospel. Of course there is nothing wrong with having community rules but enforcing them should be done with tact not aggression. Good manners costs nothing, I think when your blood gets up you should take a step back be patient and treat people with more respect after all we are alies not enemies
You are ABSOLUTELY right in enforcing the rules, nobody appears to disagree with that statement! BUT it's the manner in which they are enforced that seems to have upset everyone! Then, after you've done the "right" thing and admitted you over-reacted, you allowed the situation to escalate! The whole matter should have been sorted off-line! What are they in support of, the rule enforcement or the aggressive stance you are taking? I can only speak for myself, but what I object to is the overly agressive stance you've adopted, and the constant threat to anyone who does what you asked and voices their opinion, that they will be banned! Who is trying to "push you around?" I'm certainly not! This whole matter has been allowed to get blown totally out of proportion!!!
are we sure this is rob lay saying all this his account could of been hijacked he could be laying on a beach at this moment knowing nothing about this looking at females in bikini's and g strings
In the politics & religion section of this site is a vile diatribe headed "The Brits had it Coming". In it a chap, presumably, rants extreme racism and expresses views that most people find offensive at at time when 55 people have been killed in the city that I, and many others here, work in. That's apparently OK, a picture of a girl's bum isn't. If you set up an international community you have to expect differences between what various groups find acceptable and offensive. Personally I find the Bums a bit sad and agree that it's hardly helpful in bringing women to the site, but it's hardly worth having a rerun of the American war of independence over. The tone of this row has been extremely unfortunate. The point of having a moderator is presumably to encourage moderation, not get everyone, yourself included, wound up. My suggestion is that you delete these threads or it'll run on and on.
We can end this right now. I will start things by apologizing to Chris for notifying him the way I did and banning him before talking it over. However, I also expect the following 1) Chris must apologize for the tone in his responses to be reactivated. 2) All UK users have to accept the Forum Rules we have in place. I realize your culture has more tolerance than others, but this is an international community. In America (where 60% of our users come from) you can get fired on the spot if a co-worker sees an inappropriate image on your computer and complains. I don't like it, but the way it is. 3) I think a few users need to apologize for their attacks and flaming of me. I apologize for my own off handed remarks relating to barbarian, drunk, dense, and a-holes. Please hear me out that I do care for all users and want nothing but the best for everyone and our community. However, in the long run I have to make macro decisions that may not be popular on a micro level. Please don't berate me for this. Give feedback if you don't think the macro decision is correct, but there are good and bad ways to give feedback. Please let me know if you really think I'm a bad person and don't care about the FerrariChat.com community. I take it very personal and it hurts when I hear that because it is the furthest from the truth. If you have that misguided negative attitude towards me or FerrariChat.com, I will get you. Don't take this as a threat for most of you, because this doesn't apply to very many, if any. Do you really want a wimp running this community? I'm Texas born and will fight for the right things, I can tell after talking to a few of you the past couple days we have some things in common. I think the above is very reasonable. If not, then we're never going to meet in the middle and I will take actions. Please let me know now if you are with me or still against me. Silence will also be accepted that you are with me. Sincerely, rob
Once I get some assurance that everyone is cool, then I'm leaving and never coming back!!! Y'all have beat me down so bad this week. I have a full time job, another full time job with day to day FerrariChat.com stuff, Jennie, and running the local Ferrari club. Last thing I need is dealing with y'all (not a Scottish term)! I spent a semester abroad at Stirling University. Sara from Glascow was MUCH friendlier than you guys!
1) Can't restore a user once deleted. Not like a ban that can just be lifted. 2) I didn't handle the TA thing, don't know much about it except it was another case of high drama. TonyH, weren't there many good reasons for it to be perm? Just an overall disruption to the forum? I haven't seen lately all the negative posts that use to be around when TA was around. 3) Y'all can post bikini pics in threads here if you put a warning in the title.
No Rob, shocked that you seem to have no concept of handling a situation diplomatically. Yes the rules were broken, again if you read my post I have no issue with that, and you are correct to enforce them, however it is this stuff that is going on and aimed at people **who have not broken the rules** that I am at a loss to understand. Nobody else has broken your rules yet you are happy to ban them because because they are dumfounded as to why you are being 'Mr Angry' with them. I say it again, it is not the 'rules' part I have a problem with as I abide by them, it is lack of diplomacy and respect when talking to people in a reasonable tone to try to settle a situation. Please lets be clear on that.
Visit more often, you MAY enjoy it, WE DO!!!! We ARE friendly, and we stick up for our friends! Even the ones across the Atlantic!!!
I'll bet she was. Did you ever see her bum All cool. And if you think any of my posts have been flames - I apologise, it was not intended that way. Incidentally - your point 2. Needs people to start standing up against overly PC ways in my view. The inventors of dungarees and comfortable shoes have a lot to answer for
looks like i better go and fit my brake pads now need a piece of carpet for the trolly jack as i better not use the rob lay doll that i made this evening and remove all the pins from it HAve a nice day over there and a nice night over here
Well, the football team. I guess you can call anyone that lives on a farm or ranch a cowboy. 4 wheelers are used more now than horses to round up cattle. Rodeo is still big. More cowboy hats in the city for wannabes trying to pick up chicks. The best are the cowgirls working local strip clubs with high heals and rope! Ask Wolfgang about Texas cowgirls in G-strings.
