I have been doing the standard google/trader digging for a nice GT4 over last month or so. I seriously am looking in the wrong place or there is nothing out there right now. There was a steller one on carsearch but it got snatched up before I had a chance to even look at it. A one Mr. Suwala's car.

So anybody got a lead. Looking to spend 25K give or take, car just coming out of a correct major service or priced accordingly. Would prefer Red/Tan of course but would also look at some of the more common colors. No Rust. The earlier the better year wise because I am located in the lovely car hating state of California so smog is a issue.

Also clearly I will not be finding this car for a while but how long did it take you to find a decent GT4.

Carreaper has one that needs some work, but even with what it needs should be within your budget.

A no rust red/tan GT4 in California? Never heard of one. It took me 3 years to find mine. Still eluding the gestapo.

    Sorry.
    I bought it.

Where in California are you? This one has been for sale in Santa Cruz for awhile now:
    http://www.craigslist.org/sby/car/85014858.html

George did mention to me that his friend may have a GT4 for sale. Do you want me to find out about it?

There has also been a '75 (smog exempt) listed in the S.F. Chronicle. Full rebuild, I believe $23,000.

Yes if you have any info on that car pass it on.

If you want to sell yours, I would be interested in it. Pretty much exactly what I wanted.

The Santa Cruz one I have seen in the past. Definitly not my color scheme. I have expanded my search outside of california as long as I can keep the car in the rolling smog exception years. Or one that I can feel sure that will pass smog.

I have the space and the skills to rebuild one but I am over with that part of my life. I need something that I simply have to maintain that has all the body work and interior done and solid mechanicals.

Also of all thing I started looking at early S1 lotus's, and a few other wedge cars. The 400i's, some other way early jag's I like but I will not buy another v12 as long as I live. I am pretty sure the GT4 is for me.

Check the FCA classifieds - I saw a couple cars for sale - not too long ago.
Also, Ferrariclassified.com had a few listed. I started by using google, sounds insane, but I found mine that way.

I have a 74 308 GT4 (euro model), spent 6 months looking, and have spent almost a year getting it right. (but worth the time, travel, and money - see thread on driving a 308GT4 in 100+ degree temps).

    Good luck with your search.

Forgot to mention - there was a white 308 GT4 (with boxer paint scheme) on e-bay awhile back. I remember talking to some guy about that car, he was interested in buying it. Don't know what ever became of that one.

Disclaimer: I haven't spoken with either of these sellers, and have not seen the cars. Just passing along the contact info I have. Good luck.

Ya know, come to think of it, mine is Red/tan and is a 75. Smog exempt also. What a coincidence. Hey, not only is it exempt, but it lives in the Republic. With no rust even. Hmmmmm.

:) - found mine in a "bubble" in Minnesota. The little "queen" had 57000 Km. when I got it. Is just under 64000Km now. The previous owner was afraid to drive it. Must have brought it in from Canada (my best guess), my letter from Ferrari North America stated my chassis number (08140) is a Euro model sold in Italy and does not comply with "fed safety", yadda.... yadda....
But it turns out my Dino was born "blue" and had a color change to red in it's earlier years. Can't tell it's a color change, who ever did it, did a stellar job.

The true "rust test" was when the cooling system was rebuild. With underpanels removed for access to plumbing the underside of the car was completely exposed. I was surprised to see how clean the car really was.

    No coincidence....
Searching old GT4 threads and coming across the photo of your car being offloaded from the carrier was the final straw.....I had to have one.

    I'm just not smog exempt.

Still looking but have not found anything up to my standards.

I have also started looking at a few mondials because there are some nice early ones that are in my price range. I have even started looking at FI cars even though I had originally only wanted carbs simply because after a little bit of searching on fchat I am not as afriad of them as I was when I started looking.

    Stormbringer,
I heard from George yesterday. The car he was telling me about turns out to be the brown one on Craig's List that you already knew about.
Did you call on the one in The Chronicle?

I got a bit of infomation passed on to me, enough to know that I will not be driving up there to check it out and waste my time.

I will be at the carlsbad show this Saterday in the Prowler because there is a mondial owner who is supposed to attend which will give me a chance to see one in person and get a real look at the layout inside the car and see if I fit like I do in the GT4's.

I have also looked at some earlier cars with swap's a 330 GT 2+2 is on my list as something else I would be interested in.

Last time I started look for a Ferrari I got fed up and simply bought a replica 308. I hate to admit it but I looked at a full built viper today and a 930 (911) but I think I will stay the course on this one

It's good to see you all fellow GT/4 owners trying to help stormbringer out finding a GT/4. I've read many of your posts and enjoy them all. I'm sure you have read a few of mine also. I hate to say this but you may be waisting your time here. I recently sent a few pic's to stormbringer and never heard a word from him. I allways liked to think of my Dino as pretty decent. Just turned 50k, leather int. cold AC, sun roof, good service records the whole deal. You think if he was really serious he'd at least give me some kinda response? Hate to see my fellow GT/4 owners waisting too much time helping someone who is just leading them on. Alas, maybe my feelings are just hurt. The word I've got from anyone who's seen my Dino, It's up to anyones standards. One of the nicest they've seen. Makes you wonder?

    Kurt
