While making the rounds today, I stopped by to see my friends at the RUF Auto Centre. Aside from having an opportunity to pay homage to the Yellow Bird once more, I got to check out some of there new merchandise of the less expensive "accesory" variety.

I took home a copy of "Faszination Plus" on DVD. I can't wait for some time alone with the DVD player to watch BOTH discs! Not only do you get the new "Faszination Plus / RUF Story" DVD, but you also get the original "Faszination" on DVD!

As always, a great bunch of guys to visit, and a good place for some car-induced drooling.

Maybe I should stop posting in the middle of the night, but I thought surely, in this bunch, somebody would have something to say on this topic.

I am in Dallas, home of RUF's US office.

The first disc in the set is the '89 Yellow Bird on the 'Ring, mostly sideways. The second disc is a new video, with some RUF history, followed by a RUF R Turbo doing the same thing on the 'Ring.

Both videos are must-see material for anybody who claims to love sports cars.

I also got to see a 997 'S' 3.8L motor bolted up to a Boxster 'S' transmission. Not too hard to figure out where that's headed, is it?

I would agree - any true sportscar enthusiast who isn't completely faszinated with the cars put out by Ruf must have something terribly wrong with them. The ONLY thing I hold against Alois Ruf is that he caved to market pressure and built a slant nosed version of his car. He (much like myself) MUCH preferred the pure form of the 911 with the veluptuous headlights :)

I really like what they are doing to the 997 according to what I saw and read in magazines. Yeah I am going to have to get that DVD!

You are not alone in your headlight preference. I have been at RUF twice now and seen the Yellow Bird in person, and it is still very surreal. It's hard to imagine that simple little car going 210+ MPH!
