What do you think of this 308QV?

The car looks very clean inside and out. Do you guys think it was possible to special order the car "all red" from the factory, including air foil, targa roof, and vents/side windows? Likewise, was it possible to special order the interior upholstery "all tan"? Do you think that this was aftermarket custom made or genuinely shipped from the Ferrari factory like the seller is advertising? If so, this should be a very rare and valuable red/tan car.

 

I was wondering the exact same thing. The book "Original Ferrari V8" says nothing about these special orders. IMO, the all-red looks aweful.

There is also another White/Black 308QV on Ebay that looked very interesting...

 

I do know that it was indeed possible to get that as special order. I've only seen a couple of cars where it was done, but one of them had the original factory sticker with that listed on it.

 

Greg, Mike (spike308) from Chicago looked at that white/black 308 when it was at Lake Forest. It has been for sale often and in a few different places recently. Not sure you're looking for another 308, but if you are you might search on Mike's screen name for all his comments.

Keith Bluemel writes that while it was possible to get a full leather interior in colors other than black, Ferrari encouraged everyone to get black dashes because of the glare factor.

 

The dash could be ordered that way. I saw two WAY back in the 80's when they were new. Same with the Boxer.

However, I can assure you, the top, etc. did NOT leave the factory that way.

 

This 308 belongs to a friend of mine and the car is pretty strong. I've often coveted those small euro bumpers and also the 16" wheels to replace the TRX crap on my QV.

I've given my friend a call to see what documentation he has that shows the fact that the all-red and tan dash treatment was factory ordered. But the car did belong to Gil Nicols who was a well known to the Ferrari factory and was an active collector here in the SF Bay Area. Also, when my friend bought the car, the deal was brokered by Brandon Laurence of Sportscars Italiano who is a well known Ferrari dealer and is often used by Forza as one of their experts.

all-in-all a good deal for a Euro. I like the light colored dash.

 

I have seen the 1982 308 QV meet reserve on E-Bay at $27K and a 1985 308 QV meet reserve at $33K within the past few weeks. Both cars appeared to be in good shape from the descriptions and pictures and both had reasonable mileages. Also I recall a well documented and well serviced 308 QV for sale about six months ago at Black Horse Motors in LA. Black Horse did most of the services on this car, and it was for sale in the low-to-mid $30's. It might still be there for sale. I'm not in the market for a 308, but if I were I still feel pretty strongly to not need to spend over $35K for a QV if you're willing to wait a bit and travel to get your car.

 

An '82 is not a QV. It is a much slower, smog laden 2-valve.

 

I thought the same thing, but this apparently was an early euro version QV. Definitely said "Quattrovalvole" accross the back. Bluemel's "Original Ferrari V8" book also lists QV's from 1982-1985. Unfortunately, I didn't save the link to the car for sale.

 

I like the tan dash but hate the red window louvers. The roof and wing are fine, though.

I agree, don't like the red louvers over the quarter windows and on the engine cover. Needes to be black for some accent.
