The fuel filler cap release button on the center console does not release the filler cap consistently on my 348 spider (I tried it with the engine running and the engine shut off). Is there an emergency release mechanism elsewhere other than the button on the console?

Thanks in advance for your comments/input.

Hi, the cable release won't budge it, I got the fuel door open but now am looking for a fix and a new selenoid is $ 300!...any cheaper or used sources or can these be rebuilt? It is F- part number 60868600. it is really chessy to have the fuel filler door flapping open when driving, or worse, i have to use a feeler guage or piece of cardboard to open the door at the gas station...repeat the "plunger" is frozen in the "out" extended position so the cable pull is useless..

Remove it and see if it can be repaired. They are very simple devices.

Are you sure it's not the switch (push button) itself?
