Guess the prototype

While at the Sothebys auction in Maranello we were nosing around the inner track to see what was being tested, the usual 612, 612 face lift? 575 replacement? and 430's were being thrashed around the circuit. Later in the day this car came out and was doing lateral G tests on the skidpan and very few laps of Fiorano. I could only get this pic in whith the smaller lens before I was asked not to take any more pictures. Some people that were there on the day speculated that it was the axed Maserati that was now being rebadged and changed to be the next small Ferrari, perhaps a Dino. It sounded like an 8 cyllinder, was shorter than a 612 by a large margin.

So all you experts out there, what do you think this is?

Dont think so, was definitely an 8 and not a 12, it was out on track with this which we think is either the facelifted 612 but doors too short or the new 575 in a 612'esque mule codenamed F139.

Yup, heard the ex new Maser was shelved after Ferrari sold Maser, but have since been tweaking it and might use it for their own car. Work on an all new Maser with GM linked engine (Gasp) could be possible.

But why recreate the Dino name in a front engined car, makes no sense at all.
