Tim, wow, very cool shots. Its great you have labels on them too, as its fun to educate while viewing. I had some trouble navigating between images and thumbnails and paging forward but beautiful shots and very nice presentation. That little maserati, was it 250f or something, with the 6 side draft webers was a gorgous engine shot. Thanks, John

Another pic of the 250 SWB at the Dallas Italian car fest. Stunning car - car of the show for me.

I liked this car as it looked used - the paint looked nice but not concours, the interior was OK and looked its age - it was an honest car and probably well driven one...

It was a very well used car, and the "best of show" for me as well... at the time, though, I didn't know what I was looking at! I've learned alot this year about vintage Ferraris. :)

Are you coming up to this years Italian Car Fest?

It was quite hard to ask too many questions with my tongue on the floor, and trickier still to recall details as I was wondering how many banks I'd have to rob to be able to afford something like that...

I believe 1SWB is the more famous of the two Rob Walker cars (though I suspect people rarely know there are two identical looking cars out there). I think Moss drove both to TT wins, but 7SPA won the earlier of the races ('61).

I saw the latter being spruced for a reunion with SirS I believe.

I couldn't give much more info than that. They are both truly stunning cars. I felt fortunate just being able to get up close. To own something like that would be a unthinkably amazing. The only "hassle" it would present is that I would then own the #1 car in my dream garage, 3 others in the top 5 and the final one I'd have to have my legs chopped off below the knee to fit.

The closest thing in the beauty stakes from that era came from this side of the Channel though :)

and another one: 2177GT - owned by the austrian jean robert grellet. an interesting example, as it is no regular alloy bodied competitione, but with many comp. specs and alloy body parts. anyway its the best sounding SWB i´ve ever heard. the pic is from the giro di sicilia/targa florio 2005

Last weekend the Oklahoma FCA and Dallas/Fort Worth FCA took a tour of Bob Smith Coachworks. Sorry, no chassis number but it's scheduled to be at Pebble Beach in '06

2863 in the Winners Circle of 2005 Italian Carfest.

Still with Robert Gregory. We were loading back into our trailers next to each other after the show. I hadn't had a chance to speak with him, so just said "nice car, most people at this show have no idea how special your car is". He really didn't have a response, just smiled like it was just another car for him. Does anyone know the history of it? I get the idea he has had it in the family for a long long time. Was an old ranch trailer and it looked like the two guys were some of his ranch hands that didn't have a clue about the car either.

Wow, what a great car and I think he is a great owner. Very humble and nice, tracks it now and then, not caught up in too many emotions over it.
