Haley and Chelle's 04/05/06 project update

I'm in a similar situation and probably won't make it to either show with my project. But there will be other VA and Muskegon air shows next year. A good car next year is better than a half baked thing now.

Mark October 1st however: I want both replicars on our Route 66 drive.

 

Best of luck to both of you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, as nice as it would be to see the lambo, I'd really love to see the your project car!

Are you serious? You guys applied for Overhaulin' and never heard back from them? That really sucks! You make a good point, you could get it back with 20" wheels, and a silver metalic paint job with a custom yellow interior!

I'm also bummed that I just figured out that the VA car show is the V A car show and not the Virginia car show!! LOL If I had figured that out earlier, I would have made the trek. I'm already scheduled for a drive on Sunday.

Well, you are still most welcome to the VA show, it is only a 3 hour show starting at Noon on Saturday. You can still get up long after daybreak and make the show and be back long after the sun sets. I will make sure to give you extra goodies in your gift bag for a long trip back, and can even have 2 hot dogs! Hope to see you at the Air show, but not looking good with the GTO.

 

Thanks! I don't think I'll make it though. Maybe next year! You guys have fun. I hear you about the GTO, hopefully I'll get a chance to see it when it is done.

Chelle and Haley, You just have to pick up a copy of this months,(August '05) Issue of 'Robb Report' Luxury Magazine.

There are actually 2 Magazines in 1. In the Larger, "Robb Report". Check out page#26-27. They have a great piece,with pictures about the '63 250 GTO's.

Then,in the smaller,'Robb Report Collection' Magazine that comes with. They have an article on Page# 70 about the Quail Lodge,the Monterey Historic races and the Concorso at Pebble Beach. It has a Picture from last Years 2004 gathering at the Quail Lodge of numerous GTO's together. All are Red,but one is Blue. Neat keepsake to have with your GTO.

 

I guess I'll shoot a few extra pics at this year's Goodwood Revival Festival. This is an event where you have a chance to watch an entire field of real GTOs race each other.

Not trying to be a show off, just looking forward to my vaca.

 

No no, please take lots of pics at unique angles of the GTO's, I would love to see them all and how close we are to creating some of the lines curves and dimentions.

Thanks Mike, it is kinda getting there. I figure it will be ready around the time of the next passing of Halleys Comet Which is a consideration for it new Lic. Plate...HLYS CMT. Got to try and find an Astronomer named Michelle to find a comet now

Congrats on the wonderful project car. Two thumbs up!!
Any specs on the engine? Are you guys gonna keep it stock or upgrade it? The BMW V-12 is a lazy (but powerful) engine. Nice to see someone make a good use of it. The other person using it's potential is quy who owns the Ultima V-12.

I can't take this anymore.....I need to see this car in person the pictures alone are making me drool.

 

Yeah,really. As soon as this baby is ready,Chelle,you definitely gotta take her out and Play with us on some drives. I know you can't wait,either!

Andreas, I was wondering if we could change the name, no need to wonder any more! It is taking a long time, but it is getting there.

The next step is also finishing up the carpet, and getting the seats in for good, then placement and building the dashboard. I spent a few hours on the wheels and got the outside area finished, we need to get the car up in the air so I can get underneath to finish up the backside and those will be ready to go. And then repainting the inside of every opening of the car from the doors forward as a bit of overspray ruined what was already painted black.

And now we are in the process of moving as well. So between cleaning, painting, shampooing, and renovating the floors and kitchen, we are just getting whooped.
Oh, we are getting a great set of tools and power table equipment ready for the garage too. My Dad and I are going to make shelves that hang and move from chains. He is great with that stuff and he is bringing the entire set-up for the garage with him when he visits in a month or so as a housewarming for us!. I gave him full graphed measurements of the garage, where the electrical and water hook-ups are, and the dimentions of the GTO. He is gathering up the goodies to make a small, but nifty little workshop that will still be able to have enough space to give the GTO a nice little home. I cant wait til that project will be done too.

 

I was wondering if anyone has any tips for polishing and getting rid of tiny scratches in the older wooden Nardi steeling wheels. The wood itself is close to perfect, it is the 3 alloy "spokes" inside that I can't seem to get to look real nice and stay that way. I am afraid to use anything too harsh on it, not really knowing what would go too far and ruin it. Any tips for me on this?
