Was amazed to see a used F430 in the front of an official Ferrari showroom this evening! Red, of course with manual 'box and red carbon seats. I don't suppose it'll be there long as it already seems to be attracting a lot of interest.

I'm not surprised, I was talking to a trader the other day and he said that the premium over list had already slipped from 35K to 5-10K and with so few in the country this is a little alarming. Ferrari are going to produce more spiders than coupes in large volume like no other model before, this can only affect residuals and no one likes to loose money

You wouldn't be! But why is 328 GTB generally harder to come by and so more than GTS? Besides which, this one isn't even at a premium, not that that would surprise you either as dealers cannot charge over list.

They can for used cars, just not new ones. Hence the sell it to a "valued customer" who drives it around the block and then you can sell it for $XXXXX over list trick.

BTW was it rhd? and wat was the mileage?

Where have you ever seen a recent model at over list at an authorised Ferrari dealer in the UK? Forget classics, I'm talking about models that are under a year old.
I stand to be corrected, but I don't recall seeing it anywhere but at the independants!

    Cardiff, 1,810 miles, RHD, £125,000.
BTW, official dealers are not allowed to sell current models over list!

That doesn't sound like it's much of a premium, depending on spec.
A std 430 manual is £118500 with no options
If it's F1 then list is £124650 with no options
I'd be amazed if any cars are ordered without any options at all!

Just noted your edit, and I was under the same impression that official dealers weren't allowed to sell above list.
The interesting bit would be to ask if it's still for sale, or is it a spoiling tactic for the dealer down the road with a LHD at £150 grand?:D

I don't really have much dealing with the official dealers.

However, I saw a 360CS used @ Maranello's about this time last year.

From the rough calc's I did it seemed to be 5k over. But I could be wrong.

Also when I recenlty queried the sales guy said there were no 430's available. When I said what about @ a premium he said, "ah, we will be selling our demonstrators around September".

Also is this a UK enforced policy? Because it clearly isn't the same accross the pond?

And I don't really see how its workable. If the market is X above list, they would never get any cars to sell.

Because Ferrari made far fewer of the 328 GTB than 328 GTS. I believe 1344 berlinettas versus 6068 targas.

If the 430s still for sale then why isn't on the website?

Also if you look at the website they have a F40 for 189k, sounds quite cheap for 4,000 miles with an official ferrari waranty isn't it?

I saw that car last Saturday in the showroom and there was a sign on the passenger seat saying 'Sold. Awaiting collection by Owner'

Strange its back up for sale and not gone again like a flash

My point exactly, so how are 430 coupes going to be worth less than a spider?

I thought the same thing, but when you consider it £125K is a lot to stump up for a car. Most people are happy to place a small deposit and go on a waiting list. It gives you a while to get used to how much you are going to spend and you can pull out of it. Besides If I was paying £125K for a car I would want it exactly to my spec!

There are a lot of people who will quite happily pay that sort of cash for the latest 'must have' car whether its their prfered spec or not.

Besides you should be able to shift it on straight away for a healthy premium. Its not like its metalic purple or anything.

Sounds a bit strange to me.
