I doubt it. Ferrari would make a fool of themselves if they would act like they have a realistic chance to win only to pit at the third lap and fall back in the pack. If they ARE planning this then they really are desperate and clueless!

I hope they have found that extra something which could turn around their luck.

    Forza Ferrari!

    Ciao, Peter

Sounds like it's mostly due to the tires. Too bad Ferrari seems to live or die each week depending on what compounds the mad scientists at Bridgestone bring to the particular race.

It is not just the tires. There is no way that Bridgestone can make a tire that one week ago was off the pace of Michelin, then the next week have one that is a second faster than Michelin.

The tire may be on par with Michelin now but the reduced time is due to less fuel. They will not be stopping on Lap 3. My pridiction for Michael's first stop to be around lap 14-18, JPM on the other hand around Lap 24-28

You think ROSS BRAWN, JEAN TODT, MICHAEL AND RUBENS CARE!

They have their reputations to protect. They have the Ferrari reputation to protect. They will not make foolish statements that have no truth in them.

Bridgestone have finally figured it out!

There is this little thing called testing and research. It is an ongoing thing. You need to get acquainted to that. Those tires were not made overnight. It took time but they are here. Bridgestone does not care about ONE lousy F1 qualifying result... they care about their race reliability!!!!

    I still believe. FERRARI 1 - 2!

Yes, it is a better compound but it must be fuel as well. If MS can open up a gap (as only he can) before each stop he can win. I expect him to stop 3 times and Ruebens may pull a 1 stopper. We'll see!

R&D does not create radical overnight changes in performance. it creates incrimental improvements. Just look at Canada MS and JB had good qualifying results but pitted early. The same is going to happen at Hungary.

My projection MS 3rd or 4th Rubens 7th or 8th

Agreed this was an awesome showing for Ferrari, light on fuel or not. Hungary often favors a 3 stop strategy so the fact that Michael might be light isn't a big deal. I frankly think he's got a decent amount of fuel. Remember just a week ago everyone thought Michael was running light and would have to come in early but he didn't. Ferrari have an ace up their sleaves, just wait and see non-believers.

He did. Although I don't think pole was within reach for him anyway. MS was so darn faster than JPM, I don't think Alonso could have touched him.

It'll be interesting to see how much fuel the Ferrari has on board. They seem to have made some great progress with the tires, but the McLaren is no slouch, so I'm thinking low fuel. We'll see.

From a WC perspective it doesn't really matter what MS or JPM are doing anyway. Alonso is next to Kimi, that's really all that matters. And even if MS wins (I don't think so), all he does is eat away points from Kimi.

For sure he could not have had pole today. Pole belonged to one man and on man only... Michael Schumacher. :)

Alonso's mistake however cost him dearly. He was under pressure and lost a chance to get infront of Kimi. It is very hard to overtake on this track. Alonso could have easily been in front of Kimi as Kimi had to got out first to complete his lap.

It is not easy leading the world championship for the first time. Michael has talked about in several interviews. There is a lot of expectation and pressure to perform. Everyone saw Flavio shaking his head today after Alonso lost it. I wonder what Flavio told the young man during debriefing. This title is Alonso's. Only he can win it and he can lose it. With that amount of pressure, it is easy to get anxious.

If he had not made the mistake he would have been in front of Kimi. That is all that matters at this point. Not being infront of JPM or Michael.

Beast you are such a player hater. You are having hard time admitting Ferrari is back and I guarentee you MS will walk to whole field. In addition, Jenson was only two teths quicker in Canada, which means it was about fuel loads. Here Micheal is almost one second quicker. Even with a light fuel load, there is no way Micheal is that much faster than the rest of field, considering how the Ferrari has been this year. Bottom line Ferrari and Bridgestone have been working harder than anyone else and finally it is paying off.

Just as a friendly reminder: Alonso has been leading the championship almost from day one, so he is used to pressure. I'm not too worried. Yes he made a mistake today, but as long as Kimi is within reach, that is really all that matters. He doesn't need to pass Kimi, he just needs to finish right behind him. Do that for the remaining seven races and the deed is done. Position doesn't matter, who is in front winning the race doesn't matter. As long as he is right behind Kimi.

HUH ?? He has been in the CLEAR lead from the start. Pressure is when you're leading by less than a handful points with one or two races to go and you don't have the fastest car on the grid. At 23 he doesn't know what real F1 pressure is yet.

Somethings up when a car goes from 1/2 second slower to almost a full second faster in a week.

What about BMW Williams, when Nick Heidfeld got pole at nurburing and the next race they were over a second slower. Now they are two seconds slower. There are just some tracks where it suits the car.

I wish that it was true, but do the math and you will see that it is not the car and tire package on the same fuel load. The only way that Ferrari can be a second faster to the next car is the overall weight of the vehicle MS lite on fuel JPM heavy on fuel.

Another thing to factor in when Ferrari has good grip it eats the tires up, When it does not grip thecar is slow.

Again my prediction Michael will run away and hide at the start fall behind JPM on his first stop then start to burn up the tires while trying to keep JPM in sight while the Mclaren is lite on fuel.

Yep I'll be amazed if MS can do 10 laps on his starting fuel, and I'll be even more amazed if he can maintain a decent race pace the whole race long.

BUT if they win I'll be happy ... but still will consider it a MS win not a Ferrari win. If they back it up with another good performance then we can start getting excited ... but they are not back cause the season is GONE!!

BUT if they are competitive for the rest of the season then this is good for next year :)
