First of all for those who read the last few posts in the "I have keys" post, as you know, I was cleaning my garage all day yesterday since the car was not coming (it was supposed to be here yesterday!!). So I got it cleaned and have pretty much been a wreck since last night. I got 4 hours of sleep last night after spending 10 hours on the garage.

So, after waking up at 6 A.M. this morning, I decided to venture out to the garage and stare at it. Sad.

So, I figured, why not take a few pics to document my day?? ;-)

    Here goes....

Included are the key shot with a shot of the garage and another, which I will call the "before shot" notice the........

    1. Depressed (almost angry) blank stare of a guy awaiting delivery of his first FCar.
    2. Dark circles under eyes from a restless 4 hour sleep the night before.
    3. The unshaven growth of stubble. THAT ain't gettin' shaven either till AFTER I go for my first spin around the block!!
    4. The empty 3rd stall in the garage.
    5. Chair in background corner of 3rd stall that I have already placed so that I can sit and stare at the car tonight when it is parked in the garage without having to worry about scratching the car later by trying to carry a chair to the corner once the car is in the stall. Sad.
    6. The Ferrari banners that I have had hanging and have gotten crap for from the neighbors for weeks. Heck, even the 9 year old neighbor kid asked
"why I had Ferrari banners when I had a Porsche?"!! I have had to explain to everyone that the Porsche was being sold FOR a future Ferrari and I was just "getting ready". We'll see who is sad now!! :)
    7. Dangling keys that I had next to me on the floor last night. They were the last thing I saw last night before I shut my eyes. Sad. Do you guys remember that "Golum" character from Lord of the Rings?? My wife swears she saw me up last night stroking those keys saying "My precious" in his voice!! ;-)

    Oh yeah,

You guys see those keys right?? About the hinges on them.....

    Why are they "hinged"??

What is the purpose of that??

Yeah, I say blot the face, and either put a shirt on, or work out more so we don't have to look at your scranny ol muscles!
(Whoops, forgot, It's me with the scranny ol muscles!)
On second thought, keep the face,,,,, so we can all see the huge smile you're gong to have when the truck rolls up!
    Lotsa pics, please!
    Excited for you, John

Now where the heck is that truck????

Yeah, I figured I would show the face-shot so the "after" picture will have the Ferrari in the garage and me with a big smile!! :)

That damn truck was PROMISED to be here by noon. That gives the 2.5 hours. BUT, they were also supposed to call me at 8:30 to let me know where they are but NO CALL yet. Sheesh!!

Don't these people know I have stuff to do??

I already am planning on detailing the car, taking it for a spin, checking fluid levels, and getting out for a sprited drive with my buddy (who owns a Viper). I will have pics of that. He just ordered a camera-mount for his Viper so he should be able to get some great pics of me beating him through the turns!! Ha!!

We are going up to Road America in two weeks (I think it is two weeks) for the Ferrari Challenge. Should be fun. We will be taking our cars out on the track for some hot laps too!!

    Alright.........

Here she is. And one of the wife already wanting to drive (although she is mid-blink so it looks like she is asleep!!) There is NO sleeping in my Ferrari dear!! Ha!!

Well, we got her cleaned up. She was filthy after a long drive from Cali. I swear I had a group of 5 teenagers come over from the McDonalds to the truck stop where I met the drivers. They were oooohing and ahhhhing. They asked me how long I have owned the car. I looked down at my watch and said "3 minutes"!!! I then told them I had yet to drive it and it just came off the truck. One kid said it was the coolest car he had ever seen. The rest nodded. I did too!!!

Well, I had the slow-down light come on for a blip and I about had a heart attack. But I think that is because it is in the high 90s here right now and it was JUST after it had been sitting "warming up" (and warmed up to what is a little higher than the temp it cruises at) and then taken down the freeway on-ramp at a HIGH RPM (i.e. almost redline). Didn't realize I had it cranked up that high till I looked down at the tach and then saw the slow down light blip on. Then, after a little hyperventilation, I realized what it probably was from.

So I stayed "slowed down" at a cruising speed of 80 and then never saw the light again. And believe me I was watching.

Also, this car fires RIGHT up like a new car. And even after running a spirited run, shutting it off, and turning back on after a few minutes (i.e. when wtill hot) it had ZERO hesitation starting. So that is nice.

This car is as good as advertised. The guy was dead-on about it being around a 92 point car (except for negative points by the judges for the Momo wheel that is on it.....which i love).

So I am off to Milwaukee to meet up with my buddy with the Viper. More pics later..........

By the way, am I NUTS for taking it on a 200 mile roundtrip drive its FIRST day out of the box??? Probably. Oh well. Wish me luck!!

I feel pretty good about this car so far. Fires right up. Engine and car were CLEAN. Documentation of EVERY receipt since 1992. I mean EVERY one. The dash looks like it is BRAND new. Just a fine example.

Guys, I feel like I REALLY got a good deal on this car. I paid for this what I would have paid for a nice 84-85 308 QV. I truly am a happy camper..............so far. Let's just hope I make it back from Milwaukee!!

Congrats on the car. Just take it out and have a lot of fun. My 328 has never let me down, and as you have read of this forum, it's probably one of the most reliable F-car. You have to love the go-kart feeling of the car.
Post more pics when you have a chance.

One of the Great Mysteries of Ferrari Ownership. ;)

Some say that Enzo barked his knee on a straight key.

But I have a theory of my own: While watching a show on classic Ferraris, I noticed how many of the older Ferraris were started by turning the key to "on" and then pushing the key straight in (towards the dash) to start.

Knowing how conservative Enzo was, and thinking that there'd have been a transition for repeat owners, I checked to see if the 328 would start by pushing the key. The key folded.

So maybe that was the transition for owners of both classic and modern Ferraris -- if you forget and try to push in on the 328's key, it will fold instead of jamming up the key switch.

But then, for a 6'4" driver, it's also nice to be able to fold the key out of the way of my knee. ;)

The more you drive it, the better it runs.
(I really need to get my black/tan 328 out of the city.)
