    nice car KURT.

i have had a bunch of activity the last few days on the GT4 and the GTB. i dont know if Stormbringer has inquired or not, but i have found that alot of first time buyers want to "play the field" a bit before buying. also , a long distance purchase is very daunting to some folks ! after all the cars i have had i have found its best to be honest, and patient. the cars will sell, eventually. :)

    re: your pics,

i have been SO tempted to put on the individual aircleaners on my Dino. i had them on my 308GTS and i have them on my current GTB. do you have any issues with the higher temps due to a smaller engine compartment? i have been too chicken to get the Pierce Manifolds individual air cleaners because the GT4 compartment is so much tighter, and it lacks the vents that the GTS and GTB have. any thoughts would be great. i think your car looks great in the pics ! I got the email but it is the distance and the fact that the car is not in the california DMV system that is scaring the crud out of me. I have brought in one car before that was pre-smog and it was not to terrible a process, but expensive and time consuming. It was also a little while ago so I am not sure about the current laws.

I go pretty burned on a shelby cobra at the DMV so I have been extra careful about recheck all the current DMV regs, I also did not want to waste your time if it can't bring it it, let me have a week or so to confirm that I can and then we can talk.

Last I have been going through ~10 hour meetings everyday for the last week, so I have not been to good at returning even the most basic emails. My work box is overflowing at this point, let alone my personal accounts, so questioning the DMV about classic car smog laws is about the last thing on my list of ToDo list...

I will admit that I have been looking more in depth into cars that are closer to home at this point, sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Hey thanks guys! And thanks stormbringer, I just wanted some kinda responce, thats all. Very true distance can play a Big roll in the purchase. My car was pretty local. (aprox. 1.25hrs) away. I'm sure you'll find a nice car in Calif. You may want to also check on FerrariForum.com too, they have buyers guides on quite a few models, some good info for you there.

The air cleaners have not been a problem for me. Its been in the 90's here. Though I havn't been stuck in rush hour traffic either. I really like the look. But also true is that I don't have the stock air box. So I really have nothing to compair to. I've read some talk on the K&N's before and not all was positive. Which really suprised me since most all other venues believe they help preformance.

The sale of the Dino.....well uuhhhh..... The caption could say... "Angry wife forces sale"....or something like that. Depends on what day it is. I think she is bi-polar sometimes. Truely I'm only advertising in a few select sights. And will be rock solid on the price. Hummm.......maybe I should raise it a bit more? :D So hopefully she will be around for a while! :D Otherwise I absolutely love my Dino. Greatest car I've ever owned. Normally would never even consider parting with her. If she truely does sell, a big piece of my heart will go with her.

I hope everyone is having a great summer and are getting the chance to get their babies out on the road often. Mine will be out streaching her leg's today for sure. :D I'm glad these thing's have windshields, I'd never get the bug's out of my teeth!

    Cheers to all

    Kurt

The 308 was in IL, I was in Shanghai, China.

Do your homework, distance shouldn't be an issue.

I believe 1975 (or it 1974?) and earlier models are smog exempt. They should not pose any problem bringing into CA. I bought a 1971 Daytona last Oct in FL and easily regsitered it in CA. A 1976- carb car would be a pain to bring in - seems like most cars from out of state have long since been re-smogged.

Just got in to Spicy's mom's house after a 250 mile trip. The GTS may be a sportscar, but it isn't a GT car. My head hurts, my back hurts and I'm hot. I wish that the 365 was back together for that trip.

No Lambo yet. Maybe next year, we'll see, but I'm looking for a way to sneak a TR into the warehouse without Spicy noticing...

would love to see you with a TR :) , at least i know i can get a ride from you sometime as i have never been in one ! having been in your 365, i know what you were missing. as tall as you are i bet a GTB is out of the question ! best wishes !

back on topic, i have no clue what the "new" laws are in California, but my understanding is that cats were mandatory starting in 1975. my GTB has 1976 build and emissions data plates and a 1977 title. the Dino has 1974 data plates and a 1975 title. i would think the state would "automatically" flag a 1975 vehicle for emissions testing when the car is registered. i may be able to re title the car as a 1974, as i know a few people and Georgia is a cool state when it comes to old cars.

1975 308Gt4's do NOT have cats, but instead have the thermoreactor muffler. In CA, 1975 cars are smog exempt. This has been only as of the last year or so. When I purchased my car (registered as a 1975, with April 1975 build date), I did have to get it smogged. It no longer needs to be smogged :)

I was in the same situation when I bought my car, i.e., I did not want to get an out of state car. In the end, I did get a car that was in-state, but registered in Nevada. The PO had paid to reinstall all of the smog equipment, as he was looking to sell it in California. It was a little bit of a hassle getting it smogged and registered, but not too bad.

One of these days I will tell the story of my the DMV tried to pull my registration on a car built in 1971 because it somehow lost a zero in the vin number which was all of 7 didgets long.

If I find a 75+ car it will have to be in state and currently registered because I am not going to go though the smog battle.

I talked to a few local brokers and have put the word out to give me a call if anybody see's anything in my spec's pop up.

One other note: I actually registered my car at AAA, rather than the DMV. People there were much more logical than govt employees.

thats good to know.... guess i should call the guy back that was ready to send the money for the Dino :) .... i dont have the number though LMAO. i did not know the car had a "1975" title until i recieved it off the truck. but, i did not want to sell it to someone who was so far away, unless they knew all the details of the emissions laws there. i'll shut up about the car now :) .

Don - you have a sweet ride. I understand wanting to sell it to upgrade.

IMHO - if STORMBRINGER doesn't contact you by the end of the week, he is just a talker. If he does buy your GT4... let me know...I'll keep the points and condensers on my GT4 for another 2 years :)

    (I think Stormbringer drives a blue 914)

damn, i need to join ebay just to sell the GTB and Dino. it must be all about the "advertising" and not the car itself.
