    This may be a case of frustration skewing my view of reality, but it seems like I could buy a red 328GTS in nice condition any day of the week (I've lost track of how many really good '87s are for sale right now), while a seriously nice red 84-85 308GTS seems like a rare car. They all seem to NEED stuff and it's never reflected in the price.

    Is this because:

    1. I'm an impatient perfectionist;
    2. All the 308's got used up and trashed while all the 328's got coddled and saved;
    3. Dealers don't carry 308's so they take more digging to find;
    4. 308's are inexpensive so they get sold through different channels?
    5. I don't know where to look (dupont, dealers, FerrariAds!, FCA classifieds, Hemmings)

    OK done venting. Just wondered if anyone else experienced the same thing.

    Features: 1984 FERRARI 308 GTB QV COUPE, finished in the perfect Red/Tan Ferrari color combination, this rare find has just recently turned over 17,000 miles and is as complete as you'll be able to find including all the original books, even down to the original Ferrari key fobs from the new car delivery. The leather has never been dyed, and still in great condition as a result of proper climate controlled garage environments throughout it's existence. The timing belt service was completed less than a year ago and we replaced 2 original tires with new. These cars are getting so much harder to find and one in this condition is almost impossible. If you're serious about a superior Ferrari, please give this car your consideration and by all means contact us if you may have any other questions or concerns.

    Bullfighter,
    Having had 3 308's and 2 328's, I can verify your thoughts. Really nice 308's are not an easy find. Partly this is because there were a fair number of 328's made in just 4 years. Another factor is that in the late 80's Fcars beame valuable and people stopped driving them, the result of which there is still a good supply of low mileage 328's, especially 89's. In my experience though, the biggest reason is that 328's just plain hold up better. Making matters worse, a lot of 308's ended up in the hands of people who could afford to buy them, but could not or would not maintain them properly, and 308's can be needy. I am by no means knocking 308's, I love them, but these are the facts as I see them.

    Bingo.

    Some of the listed cars have been bouncing on and off the market often. For good reason.

    The $57K car at Auto Palace is a Euro, failed PA emissions and wouldn't do better out here in CA. Gorgeous car, though.

    $40K to $57.5K for a 308? What cut of blow are these guys snorting? I say anything over $35K is overpaying for a 308 regardless of the bells and whistles.

    Now the depression's really kicking in. No, I hadn't checked cars.com, so thanks for steering me that way. But when I checked this link I was looking at the same cars I've been considering over the last month. Black one at Motorcars, black one at Sport Auto, GTB at April Miller, etc. Strangely, black seems easier to find than red right now.

    Yep, I'm serious. :(

    Wish that was true. The better QV's for sale are all over $40K. The $57K is wishful thinking, but if I could register it in CA I would probably have paid high $40K's without flinching.

    Yes, the 2V cars are available nice in the $30K's. There are some things I like better about the earlier 308's, but the driveability of the QV swayed me to stick with them for a starter F-car.

    Bullfighter,
    There are a fair amount of flakes, but you should still try Craigslist. Believe it or not, you can find quality F-cars there that have been maintained.
    Good luck,

    I know it's not what you want to hear,
    but if I were interested in an injected car, I would bypass the 308qv and look for an 88 1/2 328 with the updated suspension geometry, but with out the ABS brakes.

    As a side note, my wonderfully carbed 77 308GTB will be for sale in the near future.
    And while not a show car, it is a fantastic driver!
