    Hi Pat,

But those BIG single nuts are so unique. We can find 5 nuts on my old 1935 Ford 5 window!! Think about it - but in the end, it's what makes YOU happy that counts. That's why there are so many ice cream flavors :)

    Cheers, Hank

Hi Hank, It just that I heard the single nut can come off and loose wheel.

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48930&highlight=testarossa+nut

kind of scare me because I drive all my cars to limit now and then. But of course, I agree that it's unique. I have a MGA which have same single nut but drive it to only 65 mph and the car can not go no more...nothing to worry about. The Testarossa can go to 180 mph... I can't help getting nervous. But then I heard convert to a normal five nuts involving changing all break discs and a lot of money....

Pat, I think there's much already said about your "loose wheel" fears. I can't recall it all just now but I think "YOUR'E OK AS IS". I'll see if I can find any additional info from my sources here in Los Angeles. IMHO, don't jump too fast on this 5 nut thing.

    Cheers, Hank

No, I am not jumping to the 5 nuts, as things aren't available here to convert all at once. I want to learn more about the single nut after I get my car back from respraying. May be take them off and put them back on, drive out and recheck... get to know it to build up my confident before I go fast...

The TR picture I posted above is the on that the wheel fell off. Its definitely a scary experience when it happened and when I first got it back, I did a 200 mile trip driving at only 100 mph. My confidence was just shattered by the incident then but after a couple of months, I slowing getting the confidence back. I had markings on the alloy wheels and the hub and I checked them everytime before I drive to see if the marks had moved. So far so good.....fingers crossed. And yes, the single knockoff does makes the car looks unique in a way, if it stays on.....:)

    Al

p/s: will get more pics of my TR when I get home this trip and a close up of the wheels. They are 18" and I believe they were custom made 2 piece split rims. :)

Nice TR. Could you please explain how does going to 17" wheels make the car more drivable with less steering effort? TIA.

Sorry that happened to you Al. I heard that there was one Testarossa here in Thailand lost its wheel with the nut came off years ago. So, to tighten them is just to use the hammer and knock them hard... any other technics I should pay attention to.

Wow, even after all of these years I still think the TR is one of the most beautiful F-cars around! Especially the blue one! Never driven one though. Anyone care to compare the drive to any other F-car? Have heard that they are heavy on the steering. It is thrill the same as other F-cars?

I agree, the blue one rocks. :)

They are heavy on the steering, but only a problem at low (parking) speeds.

Very different car than the 328 I used to have.

The 328 was more nimble (of course) and easier to scoot around in, but nothing makes up for the TR's torque. :D

Only had it one week....what an awsome ride. The windows look much darker than they actually are...perhaps a product of the flash???

to reply to AC, it's a fact that stepping up to 17" Ronal rims, made my 91 TR lighter in the steering and for sure nicer on the road. The handling is very different and made the car more comfortable. I guess that the ratio changed and the hight too. I got to have more mechanical info on that, but it's for sure nicer to drive !!
Regarding the single nut, if you have them tight at the 325 lbs, they shouldn't never come loose on you.
I never had that trouble with my Euro 98 and I did track the car !.
