    Had one of the two AC belt tensioner bearings seize up long enough to melt the AC belt onto all three pulleys (the idler, the AC compressor, and the crank pulley) It wasn't too big a deal to remedy but I would recommend replacing those bearings before it happens to you.

    That's not something I would consider a regular maintenance replacement item.

    Bearings will usually let you know they're failing, before they actually fail completely.

    By your theory, all bearings in the vehicle should be replaced before they fail. That's not very realistic thinking!

    I'm really not trying to belittle your post, but it doesn't make sense.

    Yes, replace timing belt tensioner bearings when your replacing timing belts, that's insurance!

    I replaced mine while I was changing timing belts and bearings, very little additional money for peace of mind and I was already in there.

    That's a different story.

    It's like replacing a water pump gasket, without replacing the pump or rebuilding it while it's off.
