I am usually driving way too fast to get harrassed by anyone. When I do, I just ignore them.

As a classic Mustang owner and a car guy I have to say that anybody who encounters such a person should just ignore the idiot and feel vastly superior knowing that he has a brain to match his small penis, along with an inferiority complex to boot!!!!!! Rest assured these idiots do not limit their ego driven stupidity to F-cars, they display this type of behavior anytime they observe a car that appears to be nicer and/or more valuable/desirable than the hunk of **** they are driving. Heck, I am often convinced they are inspired by their girlfriend/buddy/whoever in the passenger seat that says "hey, check out that cool (insert name of car)" and feel they have to respond by saying "DUDE, watch me blow his doors off". I cannot tell you how many times I have been on the freeway or at a stop light when some IDIOT in his ricer, newer Mustang/Camaro/Firebird/Misc POS has pulled up and started reving his engine like an idiot wanting to race, then burns out or flys past me like he has just accomplished something special. Personally I just laugh knowing that no matter how fast he just blew by me I'm still driving a classic piece of automotive art and history while he is driving an agalmiated piece of crap and you guys should feel the same way. Being car guys we all know how to distinguish each other from the idiots. Believe me one of the most plesant exchanges I ever had was with a F355 drive at a stop light. He tapped his horn and motioned for me to roll down my window. When I did he commented on how nice the fastback was, said he never sees many around anymore and thought it was areally neat car. I followed by saying his ride was not bad either. Anyway the moral is that real car guys have a great deal of respect for fine automobiles be it their own or anothers and would be more apt to compliment you at a stoplight rather than act like a total ass.

One of these dudes did me a favor last week, I was out blowing the cobwebs out of my 348 and a new GT gets right on my ass, close! I jumped on it and looked back to see if I was gapping him[I was] but I'm putting out a lot of smoke. At the next exit, my car is idling a little funny and $ signs are dancing thru my head. Turns out I had @ 2 quarts too much oil in it, and it had pumped a little oil into the intakes thru the oil tank vent system. Phew!!
I am a gearhead, and I like the old and new Mustangs. Great looking cars, but Aholes can buy anything the finance company will approve, F cars included.

Good point to remember. It's the driver that's the idiot, not the car. I love the old muscle cars as well, though I've never been tempted to buy one. I have a lot of fun bringing one of my old XKE's to local car shows and parking it next to the 'merican iron. It really bothers them when the E-type gets more attention then their "hot" cars. Bothers them even more when I win one of the popular vote trophies.

While the Mustang driver may have been just a kid, be careful as the 2005 Mustang GT with a 5 speed in fast and will take a lot of Ferraris out there.

It is funny how every Sentra / Mustang / Vette likes to run up the speed in the presence of the Ferrari. i think it is really funny. Nobody has made any comments to me yet, but I think I would probably laugh if someone said the comment to me. Heck I almost got burnt by a Hemi pickup when I missed second gear. It took me almost to redline in second gear before I really pulled away from the guy. If he said something when we stopped I probably would have said something like "Oh, well this car doesn't come with instructions."

Another jealous prick. You must ignore these type of people. It can only lead to a Possible accident. When I first got my Ferrari I use to drop down to their level and acknowledge them, but it took some time to learn that it is better to ignore than to acknowledge.

Dont let it bother ya people who do this have no regards for public safety and dont have the mental capacity too understand what it takes too own a very powerful car and only can drive a straight line but on the other hand

I get that always but then they ask me about "Drifting" then I say what is that and they have a melt down.

Some one got all annoyed the other night when I refused too acknowledg them in their rice mobile we are at a light he TREARS out and the best part was the cop was sitting right there

I rolled up and I said too the cop "hey what is exhibition of speed"

    cop
"he will be getting that ticket"

    me.
    drives a way snickering.

The best response to the guy asking what it's like to get passed by a Mustang is to remind him that at the end of the day, you are going home in a Ferrari and he is driving a Ford.

No offense to the Mustang crowd, I love the new Mustang. I'm just suggesting the proper insult to an ******. Works with Chevy too!

I had some guy in a rice grinder trying to race me once, speeding up, slowing down, reving up, just about ran me off the road, I just ignored him, then of course we end up getting a red light, we pull up and stop for it. He rolled his window and just about begged to race. He was beggin so hard I thought he was gonna pee his pants, guess he wanted to show off to his girlfriend. I said ok lets run them!!! soon as we lets see who's quicker!! I reved up a few times. As soon as it turned Green he took off burning rubber, I simply made a right turn, lol :)

When you do come across jealous idiots, its best to ignore them. You have nothing to prove when you drive a Ferrari.

Funny this gets mentioned here a week after the Same **** happened to me.

I have a wide street going to my house, this stang Blows around me (50mph) and slows to a mere CRAWL... this kept up for about 1 mile. He is going 10mph, literally. He is maybe 18? MAYBE!!

We get to the Stop sign 2 blocks from my house, he does not move, just standing there for about a minute. Giggling with his little mate....
Got sooo frustrated, I backed up, went to his side window, Took a DEEP breath and moved on. He took off and made a right as I made a left in front of him.

I was a little too close to home, don't need the drama. Follow me home yada yada...

Punk kids these day I tell ya!

    They need to be careful....

Many years ago, I turned onto a two lane street went a block and had to stop behind a Mustang convertible. There were 4-5 teens, the car wasn't moving and some were getting in. I just waited figuring they would get going. No motion. So after 1-2 minutes, I moved to the opposing lane to drive past. The driver started moving then and pacing me, forcing me to stay in the wrong lane (I was not in a fast enough car to beat him). I figured WTF, but as long as he's moving I don't care and move to go behind him. He then stops and just sits there and waits. I move out in the left lane again and he starts his game again. That time though, I let the speed build up and as we passed an intersection (there were no left turns on that street, only rights), suddenly braked to move behind him and take a right turn off. I was pretty furious at their stupid games back then, but today I would just call the Sheriff or CHP to see if they had a patrol car nearby.

To counter, check out this Ferrari owner:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1410922587302463309&q=ferrari+crash

(still trying to find the one of the guy in the F355 that rams a car in the street trying to do a burnout)

My point? Yes, I side with the Fcar owners....and ricers annoy me, but don't over-generalize people based on the car they drive. My .02

LOL what a great thread; being a new owner of a 328 and also two Mustangs (a highly modified 2000 GT and a restored '72) I can attest to all this. I too am a victim of the dreaded "Rice-By" (drive-by and rev) and I just kinda look over and smile, either wave or give a thumbs-up, bottom line (as it was put to me when I bought the car); you still go home in a Ferrari and they go home in a Mustang/Honda, you win no matter what.

I also read on this board one of the best responses to the "How much does it cost" question, the reply; "A lot of A's in school" something I use all the time now. My 328 was also referred to at the Pavilions cars show in AZ this last weekend as "The Barbie Ferrari" by said riceboy, now there's about a thousand comebacks I could have used to belittle the guy, but I just smiled and nodded my head.

At one point in time I had one of the most respected and feared 2000 Mustang GT on the streets of Arizona, many people at the shows still come up and ask where its at and I point the 328 and tell them "I grew up", but at the same time those that insist on a speed competition, I just politely remind them of the specs on my Mustang which is usually reinforced by others that know me and that takes care of their racing problem.

As mentioned before-let people boost their egos by taking a rolling freeway start on a Ferrari it will make them feel good and possibly make them look like heroes in the eyes of their friends and ladies.
