I've heard very good things about it, leatherique.com and Gliptone (UK Only) liquidleather.com. I have not used them yet but have read very good things about them. They are used a lot on British cars so I hear about them on Jag and RR boards.

From what I hear the Gliptone sold in the US is a different product and not as good.

Have heard great things about both Leatherique and Gliptone. Gliptone's probably easier to use and smells great - if you're into sniffing car seats. (Lamour, where are you?) Don't know for sure about the difference between the US and UK products but whatever I got does everything they say it should. Ordered mine from SNG Barrrat, a UK co. with US facility.

    http://www.sngbarratt.com/order.html
    SNG Part #s:
    Cleaner - CH5002
    Conditioner - CH5001

BTW, also ordered Gliptone "Chrome Magic" #CH5006. Excellent.
Not expensive - 6-9 bux US.

Fast friendly service. Not affiliated in any way, just a happy customer with a smells and looks-like-new Jag interior.

I have used Leatherique both the leather conditioner and the prestine clean. Great stuff!! It did a great job on the leather which is 20 yrs old. Use it liberally. I used a spray bottle and massaged it in. Comes out great and brings back that new leather smell.

In my experience it is good stuff to use. I bought the big 32 oz containers but only use it sparingly, so I think I bought too much. You actually don't need a lot for a two seater car- I have several years' worth sitting on the shelf. Hopefully the shelf life is good on the product. It is not cheap, but it is a good product.

I've used Leatherique before on the Esprit. Good stuff! Seems to give a little bit of life back to old leather.

I haven't tried the leather dye yet.

Here's another one that was mentioned on the Esprit list, looked just as good, haven't tried it though.

I am planning on using Leatherique on my Lexus, where the leather has aged 11 years and is showing visible cracks and fading, as well as dirt. I know LOTS of people on another forum who have went through the Leatherique kit and had their seats come out looking factory OEM. It's a great product, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in redying their leather.

If you are just looking to clean and condition, Leatherique's cleaning oil and conditioner work wonders. I HAVE personally used the oil to get rid of the dirt from DEEP within the pores of the leather, and then reconditioned using their recommended conditioner. Brought back my original color quite nicely :)

Its simply the best. Other products are fine products, but follow the directions with Leatherique (fairly simple) and you can restore color and suppleness to your leather with great results.

People who are restoring original hides use Leatherique. If you're just after a cleaner/conditioner and your leather is perfect, Leatherique would be considered overkill vs the others.

I've used it on 30 year old leather and newer leather and love it.

I bought the econo-jugs of the leather conditioner and the 'prestine' clean. First off, they need to learn how to spell pristine. There's only one 'e'. This should tell you something.

I've used it a few times, and I don't see what all the fuss is about. My seats are still hard as a rock, and yes, I followed the instructions to the letter. No, I'm not willing to do it a 5th time when the first 4 applications showed NO improvement on my seats. I'll use it the next time I give my car a good cleaning, but if you're looking for miracles, look elsewhere.

I've met Georg L, the owner of Leatherique and have used his product for many years on FCars and Lambo.

It will make old leather like new and not color damage it. Takes a bit of work to do the entire treatment, so I use Lexol 2-3 per year and Leatherique once a year. Have many concours trophys and people always ask "what do you use on your leather to keep it so new looking?".

BTW - George is also a member of this board and owns a TR

The instructions on the bottle are poorly written, I've told Gerorge many times, but George is George.. :)

Put on the Rejunvenator..OK to pour it into a small bowl and then stick your hand in the bowl and start spreading it. If leather dirty, you can microwave the product to warm it up for faster results...or take a blow dryer and heat up the product while on the leather. You can leave it on for a few minutes or overnight..it does not care and will not damage your leather.

Now here's a tip. You remove the rejuvenator with Pristine, but what the instructions don't say is when you start remove Pristine use plenty of warm water. I take a small bucket with warm water and continually rinse my rag in the warm water, wring it out, wipe down more leather. Don't be afraid to use a lot of water. Each time you rinse you will see more and more dirt come out.

I'm not sure I understand, are you saying you
    1. Apply leatherique
    2. Wipe down with Pristine
    3. Wipe with warm water

    Thanks...

If you are doing any significant amount of work, like redying both seats of something, you MUST read some of the Leatherique threads earlier on this board (perhaps someone recalls the exact thread-MCharness?) because the tips you will find there are not found anywhere else and are extremely valuable.

I used it on my 328 and it looks factory new.:)
I applied it using the rag method.

Wes--seats look fantastic--I tryed my first application--did OK got some dirt out--I will try it again next weekend--It says dirty leather may take a few applications. so I am willing to do it a few more times if that is what it takes to look really nice

Tryed it again--this time let the oil stay on overnight --did better this time-alot better than the first time--I think a couple more times over the next month or so should make a great difference.

As an alternative, check out Color-Plus. www.colorplus.com. I just redid the seats and parts of the interior in my '84 Mondial with their system, and my ratty old seats came out looking as good as new. You send them a sample of the leather (cut a small piece from under one of the seats) and they do a perfect color match. It's a three-part system -- cleaner, rejuvenator and color coat -- all are excellent quality and easy to work with. I've never done this before, and it was a snap. The "trick" seems to be to allow the rejuvenator oil a good long time (I gave it 2 weeks) to really sink in. Then clean the surfaces carefully with laquer thinner, and then apply the color coats in nice thin coats. It can be sprayed, but I used a brush and they came out perfectly. NAYYY, just a very satisfied customer. I'd definitely use their products again.

One of the keys to Leatherique is heat. A sunny 80+ degree day is ideal. You want to park the car in the sun without direct sun on the seats. I use a sunsheild, but you could also point the nose north. You want to create a little steam room. Anyway, liberally apply the RO. Come back about every hour and apply more. You can see where it has absorbed, so you will want to get extra in those areas. It isn't a difficult process, but it is time consuming.

I do need to post a warning here. I have used Leatherique for years with great success following the general procedures outlined by previous posters.

Nothing but positive results on most leather (including Ferrari leather), but then this fall I had a disasterous result with a '67 Mercedes 250SE with the textured leather seats. After treatment of fairly hard (but not cardboard hard) but very attractive original seats, I ruined the entire interior. Without any external pressure (still just soaking) the tex split wide open at various places that showed no evidence of cracks or splits before.

I contacted George who told me that this was the first such event he'd ever heard of... until the guy that sold me the car put me in touch with someone who had EXACTLY the same experience (also with a Mercedes of the same era) who had extensive discussions with George prior to my contacting him.

George then shifted gears and blamed the poor condition of the original leather in both cases, saying that some leather was beyond redemption and that my leather would have cracked and split no matter what sort of treatment I used. He is likely right, but that still doesn't explain his inital story to me that he had never seen anything similar.

With all of the good press that Leatherique gets (including on this thread) I wanted to throw in this warning before someone treats something irreplaceable without careful testing first. Luckily, repro Mercedes leather is available and "only" cost me about 50% of what I paid for the whole car to start with...

I have had rather poor outcomes with the Leatherique. I, too, followed directions and read all of the links, and found that it left my leather "...shiny..." and tacky. Could not get rid of the sticky feeling. I have several large bottles in my garage, and would not use it again.

I used both products, cleaner and rejuvenator. Both were disappointing.

    My experience only.

JS, Were you using it on German leather? I have achieved similar results to yours on a 190 SL Mercedes. The car was very original and did not need reupholstrey in my opinion.

However on Connoly leather it is a different story. Leatherique has worked well for me on Ferrari leather and has been a mainstay of the Rolls Royce Owners Club for many years. Color dying processes are different for just about every manufacturer and I am sure this has something to do with the varying results.
