So I found a 328gts 1979 black on black it looks great but its 25,000 dollars and has 87,000 miles on it and no documentation. It just had its service done 1,000 miles ago. So go or no?

    No documentation? 87,000 miles? $25K?

It doesn't feel like a screaming bargain to me. With no records - or even with them - you could need an engine rebuild in the next several years if you drive it regularly. I know properly cared for 308's can go well over 100,000 miles, but it's an expensive gamble on an unknown car.

If the service 1000 miles ago was recent, thorough and done by a competent shop, I might sleep a little better. (I recently considered a 308 QV that had been serviced 1200 miles ago -- in 1997!)

It seems like for another $5K you should be able to find a carb'ed 308 with a solid service history and/or fewer miles on it. If you can do your own major mechanical work, then maybe the potential downside will be more manageable.

If you have the intention of getting one 328 then there would be no harm in exploring different cars so that you get more experience and know what and where to look.
    It's really fun.
