Can anyone tell me what this 348 part is. It's mounted just behind the windshield washer fluid resevoir and air conditioning dryer. Thanks, James Image Unavailable, Please Login
my bad... I just did a search on the name embossed on the top, FIAMM Series 3000. Turns out it's an air horn. I'm surprised, it seems like a heavier unit than conventional horns.
Now that you know what it is, put a few squirts of light (3-in-1) oil into the intake every spring & you'll discover your horns are much louder. Not a bad idea to pull the cover & thoroughly clean the old oil & gunk out of it with mineral spirits, then re-oil. If you dis-assemble it, be sure tho keep all the vanes in the same position. Like air tool vanes, they wear little grooves in their ends & edges, & matching grooves in the mating surface. If you rotate one end for end, or put the inner edge outwards, you'll discover they don't seal properly.
Is it normal that you can't do a quick "toot"? I find that I have to press my horn button for @ 1/2 sec before it sounds, and then I'm too slow on the release for my quick "toot"
