Neville, I'm a bit worried about how you managed to take that pic while driving!
is that pic from today?? geez take a cameraman... Mark sounded a bit bored by the idea of our normal sunday blasts... i think in the NT he discovered that his car has more than 3 gears...
Good work, Neville. Keep the fire going until we are back! Yeah, I must admit that the Gold Coast hinterlland doesn't have the same appeal any more. Though I pretty sure I saw Robert in his Spider down the coast on Friday so at least he will be giving it a bit more of a run now.
I've recovered already, but my wife hasn't. Since I got back I've been mucking around endlessly with pics and videos. She is wondering when it will all end. Re the return visit, we'll be back. We are hoping to organise 6 cars from Adelaide next time using a charter BAe 146 Freighter. Our pilot has a GT3 in need of some serious exercise....
Good work Neville - but like the others I'd like to know how that photo was taken.... That sounds enticing, can they wait another 12 months or do we need to do it all again sooner then that? Some more pics..... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
my wife is a lot more demanding... being married to the job. spent pretty much every waking hour in the office this weekend (still here )wishing i was looking at our pics and vids. i want a divorce!!! wish i'd have gotten a pre-nup...
I have made a few copies of Peter's video onto DVD and I am happy to send a copy to any of the outback participants who want to PM me with the address they would like it sent to. Not as good as the other videos we saw at Neville's but does have some good shots and Peter's inane commentary.
you have your first 'customer' - PM sent. I will get as much footage of this trip as possible - can never get enough.
so whats the plan for the video lads, im hanging out to see some footage still pi$$ed i couldnt make it, but if its on again im there no question. Cheers -Pete
sorry mate, bit of patience is all... i've barely seen a 1/4 of it yet and will be a little while before i can go through and process some nice highlights to show off. i came back to reality at the wrong time for my werk projects...
Ok guys, here are some photos taken from the helicopter - too bad if MOTOR want them. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah I know what you mean, but saying that, the 4 days did seem like they went forever. It's the first holiday I've been on where I've got that feeling. Usually it seems like it flys by. But I have the picture that I took on my phone as the wallpaper so the dream is never too far away.
AWARDS!! i decided to give myself a night off tonight and watch some footage, and it's dam great seeing all these cars again, even from this angle. watching them made me think of a sentence or two about each worth writing down... Gallardo: Attention Whore this is without a doubt the car that people will remember for the rest of their lives. it was always the first approached by onlookers at a fuel stop, and the last longing glance as we departed. it also sounds pretty decent and goes alright too. Murcielago: Beast the silver colour really hid the drama of this car, but what it lacked in immediate noticability it well and truly made up for in presence. any time you see it pull up behind a car you imagine you're about to witness a rape scene, it's that imposing. Challenge Stradale: Screamer the most nimble high-speed road car combined with the most spine-tingling exhaust-note makes this an unforgettable scuderia bullet. inside and out the office shows it means business... and it delivers! coming, going, or from the inside, it's scary. GT2: Concealed Weapon it looks like a Porker, it sounds like a Porker, anyone with more than one leg can drive it like a porker.... but anyone with more than one testicle can completely annihilate almost anything on the road with it, ever. 360 Spider: Wind Tunnel with looks that make you wonder if it has a place anywhere beyond the kerb of a latte caffe house, you could be forgiven for thinking this car is more show than go... apart from the awesome scream of a Ferrari V8 behind and the cacophony of 300km/h winds overhead, i'd almost agree... NSX: Swiss-Army Knife this car does it all! it drives around town like a civic, it handles the tightening curves with aplomb, it accelerates like a slingshot, and it looks fast standing still. it'll never be the best or worst at anything, but it's truly astounding that a 15 year old japanese car is at home in this company. Boxster: Sunday Cruiser beneath that hairdresser exterior there are some decent fangs. such an easygoing car that you can (almost) keep up in AND take in the scenery that the others missed. it won't tighten your sphincter but it'll brighten your day. Monaro: Booby Prize well.... it does burnouts and the back seats are spacious enough.
So after all those awards Ash, which one would you take if you could have only one of them (excluding the Monaro as its far superior to all)? Personally the CS has a special presence about it and would be my choice. I think it has everything an exotic should have.......though the fact I've now driven it might cloud my judgement a little. LMAO.....you should send that to Lamborghini.
well, if i couldn't have the taxi-coupe i'd find it really difficult choosing between the Gallardo and the CS. the G obviously sounds great, but the CS just has that almost [F1] sound to it. the Lamborghini marque has a more distinct imprint in my brain than Ferrari, and i'm a die-hard for cockpit-forward wedge-shape cars. i don't like yellow cars in general, but it's just so stunning on the G, but then you have that pelican stripe on the CS which gives it a certain something... the interior of the G is... well, other-worldly, but oh-so-friendly and refined and really... for when you're sitting in it you want something that screams Lamborghini! but it lets you know you can concentrate on the road ahead. the CS has that raw b!tch of a car feel to it, the CF, the driver-oriented console, the dashboard (velour??) i didn't quite get but hey... the interior of the CS is FAR more my style. i've driven the Lamborghini a bit, but never got around to the hot-seat of the Stradale so i can't compare directly. given my relatively low exposure to performance cars i doubt i could really pick them apart, i'm sure i'd find my limits far sooner than i'd find the performance envelope of either car. so, after all this rambling, it comes as a surprise to myself that i reckon i would actually choose the Ferrari... to me it just feels the raw machine of the two. with the Lamborghini i'm reminded how astounding it is when walking to it or away from it or going hard in it, but it's all those in-between bits where the Ferrari really makes up ground. if however the G had this exhaust installed, it would be a very different story... http://www.users.on.net/~ashsimmonds/gallardo_tubi01.wmv http://www.users.on.net/~ashsimmonds/gallardo_tubi02.wmv http://www.users.on.net/~ashsimmonds/gallardo_tubi03.wmv http://www.users.on.net/~ashsimmonds/gallardo_tubi04.wmv http://www.users.on.net/~ashsimmonds/gallardo_tubi05.wmv http://www.users.on.net/~ashsimmonds/gallardo_tubi06.wmv
If I could have a Tubi with an on/off switch, I'd order it right now. Maybe I'll order it anyway, but that might mean I couldn't take it to work anymore (mine makes a racket in the car park as it is) and that would be a bummer.
ash those videos are great...i diddnt realise the tubi sounded so good on the G car. it really brings out the race car pitch. very nice. Cheers -Pete
i think the Capristo does perhaps the Kreisseg, i fergit, but either way there's one with a bypass valve or something designed for emissions/noise testing, apparently not healthy for it to be used for extended periods but useful for getting out the the 'hood.
I'm finding the best way to get over it is by playing with my model cars (luckily in the right colours) and making "brmm, brmm" noises... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very nice Jan Les is going to be on the coast tomorrow so we are going to catch up for dinner, no doubt to re cap the events again
