Hey all, I'm going to Halifax for a weekend in October, along with my association colleagues on the board of directors, for our annual meeting. Haven't been to Halifax in years, so I'll open it up to the crowd:

    Where to stay?

    What to do?

To put it in perspective, the last out of town meeting for this group ended with drinking games, followed by serious hangovers. We have a healthy hotel and booze budget. Thanks!

OK, you fockers! 20-something people have looked at this post and no one has anything to add!

What is it about Halifax? Not as exotic as Scarborough?

For a good spot in downtown Halifax look into the Prince George. It's a class place, central to the night life, and the staff are friendly/accommodating. If you're looking for food and drink then you're going to the right place. The entire dowtown area is full of knock off irish pubs, and some decent clubs (the Dome and the Palace come to mind). Things to be aware of are 1) the lack of daytime activities (i.e nothing special to see, no shopping, no real tourist attractions close to the city) and 2) Halifax itself is a pretty long taxi ride from the airport.

That's a pretty good brief summary of Halifax from the perspective of a student who goes to school there, any more questions let me know and i'd be more then happy to help you out. Enjoy

Now that's interesting. Drinking it is then, I guess.

Seriously, thanks for the info. Could there be anything to do on a Saturday to fill a few hours?

No worries about the cab ride, we'll probably get some kind of van.

Try the casino on the waterfront for some gaming. The area there called Historic Properties is well worth visiting. The local marine themed museums are good. Go to Citadel Hill. And for the ultimate touristy type activity which happens to be fun take the " Harbor Hopper" tour.
The city is very pedestrian friendly and there is much to do and see.
