Anyone know the difference in these two #23 162 00 and #23 162 02. Both are supposed to be for Ferrari. I recently bought #23 162 02 from Ricambi--so I know that one will work. How about the other one??

23 162 00 is the one where UFI changed the design of the feature that holds the sealing ring and many leakage problems were reported at FList and FChat. The (older) 23 162 00 on the left in the jpeg is the original design and the (newer) 23 162 00 on the right is changed design that had the leakage problem (the seal is removed in each so you can better see the difference in the shapes/design). They changed the design again to fix the leakage problem and renumbered it to 23 162 01. 23 162 02 must have some other design change beyond the 23 162 01, but I don't know what it is. Using an older 23 162 00 would be OK, but I wouldn't risk using the newer 23 162 00.

on the newest design they went back to the original design regarding the base plate. Base plate riveted to the housing instead of welded. But they modified the gasket on the 01 - filter. It's now a flat rubber gasket ( rectangular cross section ) like on 99% of oil filters, instead of the old D-ring.

    Best Regards

Actually, if they are in a yellow Ferrari box, any FNA dealer will take them back on exchange, as there is an open recall on them. I noticed the recall still posted in the service department of Ferrari Maserati of Seattle the other day. Call your local dealer though, as there is a specific manufacture date range that is being recalled. The dates are stamped in yellow in the top of the can.
