There's really not much that I need to say. An OEM 348 roof is about 20 pounds; this CF roof picuted below is 9 pounds.

The first two roofs are inbound to me in Winston-Salem, and will be fitted this week. Fellow fchatter resnow is taking one, I'll have the other. Before we start running production ("make to order" sucks for customers... nobody likes to wait!), can we get a show of hands and a price you'd be willing to pay?

    Good call Dan.
If you can price it under 1K you'll more buyers.
What about hardware? Will you/do you have any?

For those of you who haven't dealt with Dan, it's quality all the way!

    That's sweet! Nice pre-formed look.

But I bet it still weighs more than my cloth Spider roof!

If we compare apples to apples, I think my CF roof weighs FAR less than your cloth top and the linkage/frame. YOU ARE RIGHT however, in that my targa roll bar certainly weighs more than your targa bar :) (or lack thereof!)

I'm willing to live with the knowledge that your roof is light -- since a Spider can't run on FCA track days outside the low-speed groups unless it has a sanctioned roll bar.

    Folks -

I'm trying to figure out the hardware angle. If we price all new OEM Ferrari rubber (which sucks goats), the price will go up considerably.

    1. Without question, I'm going to suggest that everyone use their existing latches and pins. Yes, I can source fresh ones, but it seems financially unwise.

    2. The rubber side gasket is actually held in place on OEM roofs with a long L-shaped metal bracket that is pop-riveted to the roof. I'm looking for an aftermarket supplier of the rubber gasket. The metal bracket will probably be supplied with the roof, and I'll have it riveted before shipping.

    3. Given the choice, would you rather buy the pieces a-la-carte, or have the whole thing "plug & play" for a higher price?

I'd possibly be interested in the whole package deal. Parts included so I don't have to swap off of my existing top. That way they can both come on and off easily. What kind of prices are we looking at? Looks great!

I'm sorry, but wouldn't a better question be, how much of a markup will we tolerate. It's a nice piece, but i will always prefer my top painted body colour.

This isn't an MACarbon, Valence, or Garapan(?) piece. If you want something body painted, you're probably not going to want this roof.

If you have a 308 or 328, this roof will be of zero interest to you -- this is a weight reduction/performance piece, not a bling item. 308/328 roofs are already extremely light. The 348 roof has always been a monster from Ferrari. This is designed for people who want to track their cars, or can't stand the heavy/difficult removal of a stock 348 roof.

Excellent point here this isn't for looks its for going fast. :) I have been looking for someone to make something like this for a while now as it will really help out losing that extra weight on the track as well as I am sick of lifting the current POS part into place when I need to put it back on the car after driving it around town.

I look forward to hearing what price you can get these made at and marketed to us for.

I am very interested... especially if the seals that you end up sourcing seal the roof better than the original items.....

Not sure I can answer that one just yet. These are still prototype roofs. In theory, it should be signifcantly stronger. One of the prototypes is full carbon fiber; the other has a foam core. I doubt that would make a huge difference, but from a manufacturing standpoint, it makes the foam one less expensive. We're still deep in the "play" stage with this one, but I appreciate your interest!
