M. Schumacher with Mc Laren in 2007?

I recall reading somewhere like Forza or F1 mag, last time Michael resigned with Ferrari, that he was pretty well offered a job for life with them in almost any role he desires after he finishes racing. Not that he needs a job, but wouldn't going to McCrapen ruin that? You would have to think there's a better long term future with Ferrari with more opportunities than Maclaren can offer.

Also why would Kimi, apart from more money, want to go to Ferrari, as much as I hate to say it, they have the best car, and going on past form will have the best car for another couple of years if the MB V8 is any good. I have a nasty feeling that Ferrari will take a few years before they are up to speed, so why would Kimi give up the chance at a championship?

Not to sidetrack the discussion, but we have seen some of that before when he was fighting in the Benetton. Just ask Hill or Villeneuve. People said, that was because he was young and once he is Champion and matures, this will go away. But it never did. Even when dominating he had no problems cutting in front of people or even nearly squeeze his own brother into the wall. This season we see more of this bully style. Not that I condemn this at all. He is a though driver and that's ok with me. All I'm saying is, that what we see is not really new but has been there all along and sometimes gets overlooked by the MS fans. He takes no prisoners.

I agree 100%. Kimi would be a fool to leave McLaren with the pace that they are on presently. Yes, Ferrari has won all of these Championships recently, but that is all history now, it has little bearing on the future. Ferrari is struggling now - who's to say that won't last a little while? F1 history has shown that it is highly unlikely that any team will dominate for more than a 2 year period.

I'd love to see Michael go to McLaren. To me, in F1, nothing makes it more exciting than seeing things get stirred up.

I think MS & KR at McClaren would be great for F1 aswell. Would help breathe some life back into the sport.

The rule changes just seem to be too contrived and hurt the competitive free for all people want from motor racings premier competition.

Putting some pressure on the Scuderia is to me the most logic reason why Michael is talking to Haug and lets himself getting caught (they could easily phone each other outside of a GP weekend).

 

But is he that different in his competitive nature then any of the other greats?

I think alot of the criticism he recieves from the English media is rooted in jealousy. Had MS been English he would have been lauded as a the greatest driver ever (As Bernie pointed out aswell). And those incidents would be put down to great tough driving.

I remember one race (thats all there was, lol) when DC pushed MS of the road in a racing manouver. All I could hear was cheering from the british media.

 

I think this USED to be the case. Especially when he was fighting Hill the British press was all against the German (bringing some old WWII feelings back deliberately). But after winning several titles, this attitude has changed. I was actually shocked to see the massive support for Michael and team Ferrari a couple of years ago. The Brits went gaga over him and Button and DC were distant runner ups in the coverage.

 

Its better. But I put that as much down to the lack of any British challenger then a new found appreciation of MS.

I watch the ITV coverage (TV station that shows F1 live in England) and still notice them taking a pop when they get the chance. Having DC's agent/advisor as one of the presenters doesn't help.

As an example look at the easy ride Button is getting for his petulant behaviour over his contract. Much more deserving of criticism IMO then a driver doing everything possible to beat a man in a superior car (aka MS v's DH).

 

Yes, the bias and chauvinism is certainly still there. As it is well alive in any other nation.

Being Swiss it ticks me off how the Swiss newspapers go gaga over Kimi only because he used to drive for Sauber and has a home in Switzerland. At the same token they totally ignore and dis Alonso.

 

Schumacher should retire after this season. F1 in all, is becoming dead, and it is all a fixed scam now, just ot make money. Even for Michael Schumacher, im sure himself and Ferrari were urged to win less, and perform less, in order to keep people watching and attending Grand Prixs, in other words, keep the money coming. This was between Ecclstone and the red boys. If Ferrari were winning everything (which they could do) it would not be interesting, to anyone, even the chicos back at Monza. And now its just become a financial race, because we have certain teams using last yr's cars because they lack the funds to launch a new one. Its no longer a fair race really, and atleast here we can really see the skill atleast in the top 6, because (for example) Montoya never pursues the win, but is always having trouble, while Kimi has more value to the Mclaren team. Yet Alonzo with a renault has won 7 GPs ....
But, never would anyone think Alonzo could clintch a season.

I have stopped watching Fromula 1 for 2 years now. Tell me, what is the story with MS and Ferrari this season?

 

German Bild continues to fuel the McLaren with MS rumours. Now they went a step further and are talking about 2006. They claim Ferrari will have a hard time finding the alleged 40 mio Euros Weber is asking for Michael whereas Merc has no problem funding that kind of money.

They even throw in a photoshop of Michael in the Schumi McClonk. Silly season, tsktsktsk.

 

I learned long ago to "never say never" but Schumie in anything but a Ferrari?!? What will be next? The France family buying an F1 team

 

And in that vein I read today that Ferrari have an offer on the table for 2007 that is basically the same he will get next year. Mr 20 Percent is no hurry to have MS sign it as he'd like to get a substantial increase for the champ. It is rumored that Weber is using the Haug meetings/talks as leverage against S/F to show that there is interest in MS at a higher price ala Merc.

Interesting question. You mean to not confuse him with his bro? In general Schumi has become his nickname in the German press. Ralf is generally called Schumi II or the little brother (despite the fact that he is taller).

I also wonder whether Michael would keep that red helmet design. I would think not.

Bild has reported that Kimi has signed a contract to Ferrari in 2007. According to bild Ferrari first contacted Kimi last year and negociations took place in February and March. Bild thinks Todt told Schumacher of the plan hence Michael's interest in McLaren.

They sure keep throwing gas on this fire. BS or not ? Time will tell. It's hard to believe it's true with only Bild having any sort of a hint of this level of movement and making it public. Gotta say though everything sounds sorta logical except for MS's age and where he's at in life. But is it really true ? We can only stay tuned. Stating that KR has signed something at this point all things considered does seem very fishy.
