    For the future.... It's pretty straightforward to change an avatar. Go to the user controls and down to "edit avatar"

    As for getting the pic the right size.... the most basic way is to use Paint. Open the pic and use the stretch/skew function to shrink it down to 80 x 80 pixels. You can see how big the pic is (pixelwise) and trim it useing the image attributes function.
