I dunno, I don't care how cheap it is or how trustworthy the valet looks, I would never ever ever let someone I don't know take the keys to my baby. Brings up the California Spyder ordeal in Ferris Bueller... (that's my favorite movie :D)

I imagine that turning the car off is the worst part of owning a Ferrari, and for me, well, the fact that I will have to use it as a house too...

The preconceptions of others who think they know you because they recognize the brand of car you drive.

Being seen as an accessory to a thing by shallow folk who measure everything in terms of cash. Some times when I hear “Hey, isn’t that a Ferrari? How much did it cost?” from complete strangers I wonder if amazing looking women are asked “Wow! Look at your legs! How much did they each cost? A 23 inch waist? Incredible! How much an inch?”

The condescending nature of some dealer’s maintenance departments as they charge you enormous sums for unnecessary parts. You know: “It’s our policy to change all the window glass every time the car’s is due for a clutch adjustment. We know all about these cars.”

Hearing a ‘ping’ followed by a ‘bang’ when going flat out.

Pulling out of the garage and knowing if I didn't have to take 3 kids to school I could be driving the red car every day.
Also, the A/C (regarding the question in the thread).

I've had my 308QV for 12 years... hasn't happened yet! The two times I've had to have it towed to the shop, it's been from my driveway.

    5) The "A/C"
    6) People's "admiration" for the Mondial

That's happened to me, except it was at rush hour in the middle of a major Dallas intersection with three lanes of monster SUV's bearing down at 50 mph from both directions and snarling soccer moms trying to turn and honking for me get the hell out of the way...a kindly carful of illegal immigrants saved me, refused my offer of a tank of gas, and one of them said "hey, cool car, man!" before they drove off.

    People staring at you.
Lack of decent A/C in older cars.
Gas milage when gas is 3.00 a gallon.
    High maintainance.
Lack of "work" room in engine bay.
Rock chips that make you feel sick to your stomach.
People throwing stuff, and spitting on it.
Getting smoked by moms in minivans at stop lights in older cars.
Crappy interior bits in newer cars.

    - Playing Russian Roulette with the Check Engine light
    - Not being able to "get up and go" - need to wait until the temps warm up
    - Occasionally, figuring out logistics of getting to and from the workshop, given 355 was my only car (I live in New York - workshop is in NJ - thank God for good friends)
    - Make the car "perfect," and then deciding to sell due to fleeting visions of practicality

Fortunately, all of the above was completely mitigated by a quick redline romp through gears 1, 2 and 3. - :D

    A perfect, pristine windshield ...
except for one rock chip -
exactly, exactly in the middle of your field of vision
when the little f**ker could have hit anywhere else.

    Ever priced a Ferrari windshield?
After the shock wears off, you settle for an aftermarket
but it doesn't have the precious Cavallino on it
so you are, well, "maniacally irrationally annoyed" thereafter.

The fact that it can sometimes really bring out the worst in people...

i.e. keying (I thank my lucky stars that this hasn't happened to me yet, that's all I'll say about that), spitting on (the car, not me - yet!), rude comments, critical visual inspection by passers by, insane comparisons (Well my Toyota...<insert insane comparison here>, an occassional "flipping of the bird" for abolutely no reason what so ever, etc.

Safe to say, a Ferrari brings out the best in people, and also brings out the worst in people.

Absolutely Ghost, that goes with out saying. When it brings out the best in them, you don't have to worry about it. Smiles, nice conversation, sincere appreciation, none of these will ever do anything to diminish your work of rolling sculpture.

When the worst is present, watch out!

    :)
