good luck to everyone..... :(
Thoughts and prayers for a weakening or total change in direction. I hope that our friends here, their families, and friends can all be accounted for and the worst is avoided. Sunny
Ohhhhh uhh uhh.... I know you did NOT go there!!!!!! LOL!!!! And for the record, I'm not expecting any ins money, although after the week I just had,( Grandmother passed on mon, wife got clipped by an 18-wheeler in the BMW on tues.) I'm probably tempting fate.... Dave
We are 175 miles north of the Gulf Coast and the storm is still 24 hours away but we are beginning to see some small numbers of coastal birds around our feeders ... this cannot be a good sign. I hope that everybody in the path of the storm is already headed north! God bless and stay safe
Going to leave Jackson, MS after the next update. Most likely going to Ft. Worth, TX where some family is.
very clear for now. Going west on I-20 to Shreveport, expecting to hit traffic there, but it hopefully wont be too bad. Good luck all.
good luck to you all! just curious, what do you do with your ferraris? what about when u dont have to evacuate but it is still bad?
Here's vid from a strong Cat 4 storm, Charley, when it landed on the coast of Florida. If Katrina doesn't slow down its going to be as bad or worse than this, not to mention the potential surge filling the city with water. I hope everyone got the hell outta dodge! http://www.extremestorms.com/charley.wmv Sunny
Right now, no matter it's path, one can only hope it weakens by landfall. This is going to be a difficult time for one and all. May your strength be greater than nature's.
Mandatory Evacuation called for where I live, because of the storm surge potential. Winds are not supposed to be that bad 70-90mph...but the storm surge is called for 10 feet. I'm staying...Took the Fcar to the beach this evening and took some pics. About to put it up on ramps just incase the house floods...I thought we safe here...guess were not.
Oh geez, I'm watching MSNBC & they are saying 25 ft swells in the French Quarter with 160mph winds. I wonder if those buildings will hold up? Stay safe everyone & head for higher ground!
OMG! This could be the worst storm ever. I fear that we are about to lose a jewel of the US! We love New Orleans! But the even bigger fear is for all the people still there! I hope the engineers of the Superdome did their homework right. Our prayers are with you all!
A note about the superdome...it is designed to withstand 200 mph winds, but, with no electricity, after a few hours its becomes its own sauna. They are now saying that it may be weeks before people can venture back to their homes..if they have a home left. The dome is housing for those that have no transportation or any money to leave the city. The bigger issue, what is the ciyt going to do with all the folks that will be homeless??
