Is it my imagination or is that grey thing on the bottom just a foam block in a wrapper to take up space?

Funny you said that because I was going to pull that box to make room for a can of fix a flat.

I see even the F Car specialists don't seem to be too worried if the aerosol gives up the will to live after a few (11) years.

When I bought my 348 Spider I investigated the toolbox and the tire seal was more or less sealed itself in the foam packing material. It was the original and had probably never seen the light of day. Said to myself at the time "Will it still work?"

Never bothered to find out. Any F Chatters out there know the shelf life or when it (realistically) needs to be replaced?

You wanna get killed like Cosby's kid? I replace mine every six months, to get from A to B sometimes you travel through bad areas on the highway and insulated, break down in a Ferrari and that's like a gazel w/ broken leg at dusk baby.

Take the factory can of tire seal and store it in the garage somewhere, and replace it with something from our local auto parts store. My two cents.

you should replace it with a can of contact cleaner, this makes more sense...

I once called the Ferrari dealer in Seattle to ask the cost of a new can of Ferrari fix-a-flat, just for curiosity. I can't remember the exact answer, but it was something like $300. So as suggested, keep your original can of the stuff in a safe place, don't use it, save it as a holy relic, and go buy a couple of cans at your local auto parts store for a few bucks.

Perhaps the Pope visits Maranello every so often to bless the Ferrari cans? :D
