My guess is that they, Jean Todt especially, want to keep even closer ties with the F1 cars' names...F2000, F2001 etc.

I like the names but if this is the logic it makes sense.

    Your thoughts......

Because everyone in the Ferrari world is tired of explaining why the V8 convertible is not called a 360 "Modena Spider "

Sounds kind of blah to me. At one point it was going to be the 430 Monza or something. That sounds a bit more exciting.

You forgot one or two V8s...288 GTO and F40 and Challenge Stradale!!!!

    208 through 348 = displacement and # of cylinders

    355 = Displacement and # of valves

    360/430 = displacement

oh yes, forgot the turbo & challenge cars ... numbers & letters :)

    208, 308, 328, 288 GTO, 348, F40, 355, 360 modena, 360 CS, 430, ...

Those are magic numbers for insider like the "911" for the other horse car brand.
The name of the city of Modena as a marketing-gimmick was a mayfly.

Don't mean to be picky, but come on folks lets get it right once and for all:

The CS is officially called a FERRARI CHALLENGE STRADALE. Not a 360 cs, nor a Modena cs, not even a 360 Modena CS

    OK?

Quick, you better call FNA and tell them to stop writing "360CH STRADALE" on their Monroney Stickers.

I looked up Ferrari web sites. The Ferrari North America web site refers to it as 360 Challenge Stradale. And Ferrari World web site refers to it as Challenge Stradale only. I guess take your pick...I am going with Challenge Stradale as the badge on the back of the car.

Sue them for selling you a non-original product!!!!!!!!

When I took delivery of my CS in France in August 2003, Ferrari France (now Ferrari West Europe) made a big deal about the name. The idea was that the CS is not a GTI-ed 360 Modena, but rather a model in its own right. That is why it makes no reference to 360 or Modena in the name. As a matter of fact, if you look at your owner's manual you will not see mention of anything other than CS. In all the correspondence I have had with either Ferrari France or the factory itself, the car has always been referred to as a F CS.

It also drives 360 owners crazy to think that they own one of about 12 000 cars while we own one of EXACTLY 900!!!!

I think he might be right. Everytime I read a review or watch a video on the car it is always reffered to as the Challange Stradale. Even when I was talking to some of the guys at Ferrari of Quebec they reffered to the car as the Challange Stradale.

Well, Ferrari is *so* original with naming their recent models.

360 is named after the city of Modena
550 is named after the town of Maranello
612 is named after the coachbuilder Scaglietti

    What else could they use?
Pininfarina? Fiorano? Monza? Imola? Mugello? Bolonga? Milano? Firenze?

Maybe they just ran out of ideas....

Is this the actual world wide production number for these cars? There was a thread a while back and NOBODY could come up with a number that made sense. Do you know how many are in the U.S.?

    Thanks,
    Rick
