Kimi qualfied, ran half the race with a heavy fuel load and just 1 lap on the next fuel load. Will the other rear tire fail or was the combi of weight and tire loading? stephen
The further back in the pack the red cars... the quieter the Sunday morning threads.. Rubhino pits again for left rear tire replacement.. Taku and Webber had a nice pitlimited drag race out of the pits..
Montoya will win, Alonso will keep his lead, hoping Fisi finishes third - one of the best races but still doesn't compare to Imola. Button blocking MS as MS really needs that last point paying place. Carol
hat off to Rubens, he outdrove his illustrious teammate and got punished by the team for it, (same as usual) with the B.S. LR tyre change. Didn't see MS having to do the precautionary pit, or did I miss something.
Woohoo!!! JPM wins! Hats off to him, but unfortunate that Kimi's tire problem came up so early compared to Juan's. I can't wait for Spa!
That race definitely counts second best for us (Imola being best of season) - true racing at it's finest. Montoya put in an exceptional drive with the problems he mentioned in the post-race conference - and a very gutsy race knowing that tire could de-laminate at any time and to go to the finish was the only thing he could do. Every year we've been to Spa there's been some sort of record established and hopefully next weekend we'll be there for the crowning of the youngest driver champion in F1 history. Ferrari now has nothing to gain/nothing to loose so it's gonna be basically a "balls to the wall" race for them - should be interesting. Byron - if you check this site before your email - we'll get one off to you tonight - look forward to meeting you Friday at Spa (we arrive BRU at 7 am and will head to Spa and the track). Have a wonderful time in the Alps. Carol & John
lol, at least was better than MW's performance considering AP hadn't driven a car for 3 months. Oh well, in 4 more races, I'll be changing to BMW/Sauber. Hopefully NH will be with them.
Whatever you think about JPM, you have to admit he has guts for continuing to circulate at speed on a track as seriously fast as Monza is with an obviously failing tire. And what about: 20 starters, 20 finishers? The last time that a full field finished without retirements was Zandvoort 1961!
Great race by Montoya. Qualifying laps... ... 1.20.878 Räikkönen - pits lap 25 (incredible) 1.21.054 Montoya - pits lap 20 Kimi lap was a jaw dropping effort taking under consideration his fuel. KR would've won, if not for that blister!! ....+ If not for that engine change, he would have embarassed JPM so severly. Ferrari still having tyre problems...I thought RB had a good race but again some bad luck. Schumi spun at the end and lost a position. (didn't see it on tv) Tyres - poor grip I guess. Fisi had a good race after a poor showing yesterday. I think Kimi would have overtook him if it wasn't for that spin. Kimi was being too agressive trying to catch Fisi. Pizzonia - good strategy, superb race-
Fantastic race! - JPM showed extreme testicular fortitude. - Alonso kept a cool head when it was tempting to go all out for the win. - I really wonder whether that RB pit stop was necessary. He clearly outrun MS and they pull him in. The Swiss newspapers annoy me once again: All they talk about is Kimi's bad luck. Well hello! How about his luck? He got the car into the gravel and only sheer luck allowed him to crawl out of it. Anyway, 27 points is all that matters to me at this moment! Ole, ole, ole, oleeeee. Oleeee, Oleeee!
