I recently lost my central locking, and on checking found that the fuse had blown-it also runs the flasher lights. I replaced it with the 20A that the book says and it worked fine.....until i started the car.....then i heard a brief buzz noise followed by no more central locking. Why would the fuse only blow on engine start? any ideas because i am all out!

because the lock actuators are triggered by the position of the ignition switch would be my guess.

check the cables between the doors and the jambs for cuts. If nothing obvious, then I'd disconnect the cables at the plugs (one is by the fusebox, the other is behind the pocket in the left of the dash). If the fuse is ok at that point, plug in one of the doors and try again. You'll figure out which door is the problem and will probably have to pull off the door panel to see what's going on.

If you have an alarm system that taps into the door circuits for remote locking, that could be a problem also.
