I was talking to a sales rep at a local Merc. Benz dealer and he say he can do a BRAND-NEW '06 MBZ C230 Sport Sedan for $27k... Should I do it? I do long commutes (100+ miles a day) and needed a car that I can use to commute - just to put a serious amount of mileage on with no headaches towards maintanance, then resell it in a couple of years. What do you think? I think the new '06 C230 Sport Sedans have 2.5L V6, not the 1.8L V4 (2005). I don't like the styleing of its rear, but well, I just need a car to abuse. I have Pros/Cons on this. PROS 1. It is a good discount. ($32k car for $27k). 2. I kinda like the interior. 3. It's a Benz for $27k 4. I'll be saving about $100 a month on gas by driving this car, instead of my other heavy V8 American cars. CONS 1. I don't like the look of its rear. 2. Merc. Benz is coming out with a new C-Series in two years. 3. Some view it as a poor-man's Benz. 4. Some view it as a chick's car. I am still thinking about getting a "fun" car, such as Elise, but there's no way I'll be doing 100+ mile commute in that so I need a car for my long commute. I'm also thinking about selling my Tahoe. I have almost no need for a big SUV, and it takes too much gas... If I do it, I think I'll do BLK/BLk. (Bhane, if I buy BLK/BLK, I'll serious need to get a clear bra...) What do you think? Is the car worth the money? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Why not a C32 with their preowned 100K warranty. And if you get bored and want more performance, can you say RENNTECH........ http://www.renntechmercedes.com/For approx. $3500-4,000 they can turn the C32 into a Porsche eater.
I have an '05 C230 6MT in black/black. Gas mileage is at least 18mpg even when I pound it hard. The car is really solid and is a great buy for what you are looking to pay - not to mention that it's really fun. I would try to work out a deal for pre-paid maintenance as well.
Get a TL. It's soooo much better, an INSANE amount of features, and they don't depreciate nearly as much as MBs and Bimmers. Just go and sit in one.
Hey Bijan....is the STI gone? TL is FWD, which can be a deterrent, but probably better for your snowy weather.
PROS 1. It is a good discount. ($32k car for $27k). My response: Thats because they are big sellers? Hmm. Maybe they were overpriced? Hmm! 2. I kinda like the interior. My response: Hopefully you like the seats and the interior holds together well, the stereo is decent, and the climate control doesn't go south. Not that these things are vulnerable but its important. 3. It's a Benz for $27k My response: Do you think a brand new $27k Benz is going to be a high quality automobile, even given the companies roots? Get a 500E. Thats a Benz worth having. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=135177641#post135177641 4. I'll be saving about $100 a month on gas by driving this car, instead of my other heavy V8 American cars. My response: You'll be spending on average $100/month extra at a dealership in order to maintain its warranty. CONS 1. I don't like the look of its rear. My response: I'm sure people aren't keen on the looks of the Insight or the Prius but they do their job. 2. Merc. Benz is coming out with a new C-Series in two years. My response: Calculate the differences in running costs for 2 years vs the depreciation in 2 years and whichever is less go with that. 3. Some view it as a poor-man's Benz. My response: Who doesn't? 4. Some view it as a chick's car. My response: If you can't bang 'em, join 'em. LOL! Get what you like but you're throwing money away. Sunny
I'm soon to find out I guess. Just took delivery of the new S430V last Wednesday. So far, so good. (Only 250 miles)
Car is a POS, but you'd look good in front of the local Starbucks or pulling into the driveway of someone that owns real cars. In other words, its perfect for you!
Don't lie..... You just think it will help to tell the females you drive a Benz. Here's the rub: They know it was only 27K too.
I call it like I see it. The car is junk, but if you're willing to put image over reliability (and resale value), go for it. Remember, you've got to be happy with it, not any of us.
Here's a way to save gas too Patrick. Buy a 1997 Honda Civic 2 door. Damn things get 44 miles to the gallon. Should be able to find one for $6-7k. Take the difference and buy a 308 and step up to the plate. Wait, why am I giving you advice? Just ask Deborah what to do...
Hey wow, man.....You can use alllllll of the money you saved on alllllllll those speeding tickets for the downstroke!
