    hi guys,i removed my cats today as i have some test pipes to fit but on removal notice that one of them was completley loose internally,my question is can this have done any engine damage,ive done a 1000mile since buying it a month ago?your advice is appreciated.steve

    often it is damaged and you dont know it..it could only change CO/CO2 ratio for polution tests but I dont think it could cause damges to your car. remove it you will have a better sound.

    I have heard about bits of cat falling out of the tailpipes on 348/355 but not getting sucked back into the engine. I wouldn't worry about it.

    It is possible for some engines to ingest bit of a failing cat - some Corvettes had a small restriction in the manifold to prevent it happening IIRC.

    Can't see the United States EPA being too bothered about it really. They must have more pressing business a few thousand miles nearer to home I think..
