Anyone know a source for the plastic spacers (gromet like) that are added to 60s Borrani inner tube valve holes to fill in the void between the base of the valve stem and the surrounding valve hole resulting from modern thinner valve profiles? I have tried Cooker Tire, Parker hall etc to no avail. Michael Bayer

Will a tube w/ a stem that becomes wider at the bottom work?
Also are you talking about just reducing the stems hole w/ a spacer or giving it a finished look by also filling in the recessed groove around hole?

Do your tubes have the threaded metal valve stems? If so, the guy next door machined some aluminum nuts that fit in the wheel recess nicely. The inside nut is round/knurled, the outside nut is stepped round (to fit the recesses) with a smaller raised hex for tightening w/wrench. IIRC they were $30 for a set of 5 pairs or $6/wheel.

BTW ; The stem nuts I spoke of, do center the stem in the hole, if that was not clear.
