I have to admit I really like the LOOK of the Sky. It just sits well with me. More power obviously! But for the the price not too shabby. When I more powerful version comes out, it could really be a good car. I would probably still take a 05' S2000, but it might be close with more power and I usually hate most domestics!

Both should go for about $21k to $23k.

Honestly I would take neither at this point in time.

Soltice looks nice but, it seems underpowered.

The Sky looks like a cleaned up version of a VX220. Not a bad thing exept that they made the mistake of not making it a regular mid-engine car (engine mounted behind the driver). Also needs a tad more power.

Last I read they were testing a S/C and a turbo package - S/C version would probably be cheaper because it would be similar to the ion redline motor. Personally I'd pay a grand more a secure a turbo in the range of 250 HP - you?

In person the Sky looked like a 5/8 scale C6 Vette. The Solstice is a bit bulbous but organic and smooth. Until I drive a Solstice next weekend, I'm still liking the '06 MX-5 as a fun daily driver.

I have to admit I like the styling of both the Sky and Solstice both of which are HUGE steps forward for GM in that respect. Even more so that it seems like a genuinely capable and straight up roadster although it's a few years late to the party. Honestly, with other proven competitors in this segment I'd be hard pressed to pick a GM over say a Honda S2000 or Miata. The new Miata for example looks fantastic (IMO) and if it's anywhere near as good as the last 2 gens it should be near bulletproof and handle like a dream. Heck, I bet you could even shop around for a leftover unsold '05 MazdaSpeed Miata (which supposedly is a fantastic car) and get a spectacular deal on it. I always shyed away from this car segment since I'm so tall (6'5") and never could fit comfortably in any of these cars, but this new generation of roadsters like the Sky/Solstice (especially a force fed one) and new larger Miata are looking mighty tempting.

Neither. I'd rather have a 2006 Mazda Miata.

I like the idea of the 250 hp turbocharged Solstice for around 30 grand.

Sky is better to my eyes, but they both look like the came out of a dog's ass compared to that Alfa

Saturn will likely make a redline version with the S/C on the Sky. And it will still be under 30k.
I'd get one if it was with S/C and nicely priced.

Nothing else in the class even comes remotely close to that Alfa! Damn shame it'll never make it's way onto our shores anytime soon.

They are going to make the Solstice with a turbo engine option, in late '06 as an '07 model... so about a year off yet... but more power and full factory warranty...

    Neither.

No way in hell I'd buy a domestic first year out. No way. Besides (and I admit that I'm biased since I've owned two of them), I'd rather spend a bit more and get an S2000 over either of these options. Way more sports car for the money, IMO.

Well just spent the day at the GM in Motion event (THANKS GM!!) and they had the Solstice and Sky on display and the Sky is the clear winner to me. Although I must say that the Solstice does look better in person but so does the Sky! They were having a press release for the Solstice and they were driving around out there but only for the press. The interior on the looks good.
On a different note, the Pontiac GTO is a LOT better car than I thought it would be!!! Very reasonable price for that kinda power and fun. I drove the car as hard as I could on such a purposely small course. And I really enjoyed it. I also got to drive the Corvette and CTSV a few times and both were very impressive. I still don't like the interior on the Cady but on the Corvette it's actually not that bad. Kinda cheap but not too shabby. I like the shifter in the CTSV better than the Vette or GTO. All together the new Corvette is a very fast and impressive car. It's just ferocious amounts of power. Compared to the best sports car I've driven (the 996 911T) it's as fun up to 7/10ths but the Porsche is a better car for hard driving and just all around. But the Corvette is just FUN for the money.

Hmmm, I'm going to make this a Thread...

I'd take the Sky or Solstice any day over the new Miata.

Though not as quick as the Miata, all reviews so far put the Solstice ahead of the Miata in the handling department and also choose it as the the overall better car.

I also don't think it's fair to compare the S2000 to the Miata or Sostice as the S2000 is nearly $10 000 more than these cars.

I'm surprised the Sky is preferred over the solstice..

Not that its wrong or anything....

    Just surprised...

    I personally prefer the solstice's organic shape..(JMO)

I wonder if the sky actually outsells the Solstice once they both are in production....

Should be interesting to say the least....(I think real transaction prices with necessary options put the two evenly priced? or at least close enough not to make a difference)

Solstice is my choice. I think it just looks good. The Sky is gaudy and overdone, making it hard to look at.

Where did you see a review on the solstice? I would love to read it.
