Did they strip and polish them, or was that done elsewhere? plus did you have to supply them without the tyre fitted?

Metal magic in Barnsley are very good they strip them and powder coat them.

Just one thought about powder coating. If the wheel requires filling (from any damage repairs) powder coating may not be possible. The heat required for the cure cycle of powder coating is around 350F (175C) which is beyond most fillers (ie it melts). I have just had one wheel repaired and painted and 2 pack then lacquer was the only option. I would be interested to hear if anyone has a high temp filler and used it with powder coating.

the only thing that you can do is to have them alloy welded and then grind back to shape i have lots of stuff powder coated every week tried metal set filler and nothing works

Thanks for confiming that. Just seemed to me like too much work for minor damage to get them welded.

If you are looking for powder coating near Chester, I use North West Enamellers on the Catheralls Industrial Estate, Buckley (01244 544739). They do lots of bits for cars, chassis etc.

Found a place in leeds 'MSS' who do the lot, they will take the tyres off, strip/repair/paint and refit tyres and balance the set for £160, which sounds pretty good

I have no affiliation but have used them and they were very good.

They use a local depot to strip the tyre and then they collect them and send them back to the depot so no hassle really.

Note: just get the price in writing up front as they changed it slightly with me after sending them but they did a great finish on my split rims and are the only approved place I know that do split rims.

some thing to do with the TUV approval on rims or summit.

Two of the wheels needed some filling using alloy then rub down. The wheels were stripped of tyres and valves by me. The wheels came back to me polished, only need to get the tyres back on.

The wheels are perfect. They most do motorcycle frames and wheels.

£165 for all fours great price - cash that is...
