After selling my Testarossa last December I have now started thinking about my next F car. The problem is that I cant quite decide between the 355 or the 360. The TR was nice but it did feel old - you admired the looks but it felt agricultural compared to my BMW 745. Is the 360 noticably more advanced than the 355 in the way it drives, stops, steers, changes gears etc? I would only buy a coupe and a 355 could only cost around 45K compared to the 65K for a 1999-2000 360, so the 355 will save me a bit of money and loose less in depreciation. With the 360 is the F1 box really good or just a gimmick? I suppose both have their good and bad points just wondered if there was really a killer argument for going for one instead of the other. The 360 look is now really growing on me and it seems to make the 355 look a little dated now.

Ufo, reading what you wrote, it looks as though you have already subconsciously have made up your mind already. Sounds like the 360 to me;) You dont want to make he mistake of buying the 355 then regreting the choie that you have made every time you see a 360.
BUT saving 15-20K is bloody good:D
None are better than the other becourse they both have somthing the other does not. Choices, choices:)

no power or torque you have to rev the nacks of them to make them go ask simon lambo what the difference is like dont think he would go back to 8 cylinders

Steve, - spot on! I drove a 355 and you are right, compared to the TR it felt as if you really had to rev loads to get the thing going. But I just put that down to the fact that that 355 was abit tatty - dont tell me that there all like this - 360 included? Please no!

You do have to rev them. It's the whole point of the junior, more sporting cars.

The big engined motors aren't like that because they're designed for fat rich gits who drive with one arm out the window holding a Montecristo Tubos.

    Completely different styles of car.

If you want something grunty but more "up to date" (whatever that may mean to you), why not try something like a 550? If that's not in your face enough, then you're going to be looking at a 512TR (the subtle differences in these over the original TR make a big overall difference in my eyes), 512M (512TR given a beating with the ugly stick) or something from Lambo (Diablo perhaps - but you'd need to get highlights and start singing with a croaky voice) I would suggest.

I've had a 360 Spider and loved every minute of it! I now have a 355 Spider and can honestly say that I genuinely prefer it!
Yes the 360 had more "grunt" with loads more torque and was easier to drive, the 355 is slightly more "agricultural" but has more than enough feel to be a "propper" Ferrari.
The 355 certainly handles better than the 360, feels more stable at speed and those looks just says it all!

360 does feel a lot more modern, is phatter, and throttle response is faster.

However the 355 has a character, charm and sound.... that unfortunately the 360 just does not replicate for me. If it did, Id have a 360 right now.

For me, you only need to look at a 360 and 355 and in your heart you will know which is right for you.

I've got the same problem. I keep promising myself that I'll change the 355 next year but I just can't fall in love with the 360, better car though it undoubtedly is.
I'm worried I'll regret it forever if I make the change

Thanks for the input. To sum up your collective views: 355 is prettier, sounds better, has more character but is more agricultural and the 360 has more grunt, and better throttle response. Personaly I do like the idea of the F1 box and I have heard that it was much improved on the 360. I was not a big fan of the looks of the 360 at first but they have grown on me. I also think that with the 430 looking so similar it will not harm the values of the 360. If I can get a 360 F1 for £60K I will be very happy - what do you think?

I also have a similar circumstance as I have 328GTS and 512TR and I am looking at a 360 Modena. I'll never part my 328 but still thinking whether to make the change from 512 to 360. I've had the guts to do so as I'm afraid thati might regret it.
I started the thread before refering to this scenario and got advices from both camps (old school and new school) so still sitting on the fence here.
I tried out 360 F1 before and loved it but it's the same with everything when it's new to you so you enjoy it but through time you might regret it.
