I know a man, italian ferrari mechanic that worked for the sultan for 3 years until the whole collection was locked away, he has showed me pictures of the cars, he drove every car on the collection, they had over 100 ferrari, most of the cars were never driven by the royal family, they only drove some cars like for example 550 maranello fitted with auto transmission, or 4 door 456, they even had a 456 fitted with some kind of infrared system to be driven at night without turning on the lights, it had some kind of LCD display that came down from the roof so you could see the road, I think they had like 7 of each special model like the FX and Venice series, they only had 2 vintage Ferraris one was a 275 GTS.
That 456 wagon is wicked! I'll take one over any other station wagon anyday... Thanks for posting. -Tom
Great post, Jon. It was interesting to see all those together. I agree that many of those prototypes are not as pretty as the cars they actually produced. But that's to be expected with prototypes. Some of the one-offs, though, are really nice. In particular, the 456 Estate and Saloon models are great! And the FX is awesome.
Here are a couple of more prototypes, the first two are of the 365GTB/4 prototype based on the 275GTB,the rest are of the Enzo prototype based on the 348.
