I figured as much. Carson City is most likely where we will stay (me and my dad) . Just thought I would check. Do you know if the F40 will be there this year? By the way you have a PM.

I would recommend staying in Reno, not Carson City. The drive is about the same, and you will find much nicer accomodations. I would recommend the Marriott Residence Inn. It is at the south end of Reno, only 30 minutes (20 minutes if you're on the gas) from VC.

I will be driving up to VC every day from Reno. If anyone wants to head up with me and FREFAN (Mike G.), just PM me.

    2 weeks and counting.

Looks like I'll be there with the two Mikes, but are we taking the Ducatis or the Ferraris? Had dinner with him and his lovely wife this weekend, and I think that I'm bringing both the Ferrari and the Ducati. Should be fun. Mike S, too bad you couldn't make the ride, even though that piece of crap Triumph gave out. While sitting on the side of the road, saw some old friends on bikes, and had a great time.

I think it will be a Ferrari weekend. Looks like this will be another NorCal group reunion.

It sounds like I didn't miss much of a ride. We will have to try again.

Got pulled over on the truck route today. First time in 4 years they have messed with me. Officer May thought I was 'practicing' for the hill climb, which of course is BS because I drive that road every weekend at least once. Funny thing, I wasn't speeding (for once). So lights go on and I'm going 45. Officer May was very inquisitive, asking lots of questions about my address, noted my insurance is coming due next month, wondered if I was wearing corrective lenses, the whole speal. I ask why I'm being pulled over, seems like I was speeding. Interesting, my radar detector didn't go off. So I asked if he got me on radar, since I didn't pick up anything. Officer May said on off-duty officer who lives on the road saw me going very fast. Saw me?? Officer May, how fast did it LOOK like I was going? Hmmm, good question. Then he asked if those were my tools in the back. No sir, thats the engine. Ok, I'm going to let you go this time. So I tell him he's not letting me off of anything since I wasn't speeding. Have a nice day, he says.

Damn, I really wanted that ticket, I was so looking forward to hearing someone describe in court exactly what my speed looked like. I could hear Art now, "did he look blurry?", "were you wearing your corrective lenses, sir?". Oh that would have been sooo funny!

All said, the sherrifs in VC are pretty cool and are doing the job, and I think get a little bored every once and awhile. The like to look at the cars too. For the next week they have definately stepped up the patrol.

LOL!! "Now son I'm gonna let you off but don't be doin' no speeding 'specially with loose tools in the back like that by the way what kind tool is ferrari?"- sheriff yokel- I guess the intakes on the 360's engine are "tool boxs" lol thats great. If only all speeding tickets were so funny.

There is always power in numbers. We will be pre-running the hill climbs Thursday evening. The plan is to meet at the very top of the truck route (corner of main street and the truck route) Thursday at 6:00 PM. For those driving up from Reno, we will meet at the 7-11 (5:30 PM) at the base of the VC highway. We will run the hill several times and then have dinner and drinks in Reno.

I think we can get at least 8-10 Ferrari's together. PM me if you can join us.

I suspect the Storey and the Lyon Co. Sheriff's will take a very dim view of that. And in case it you missed it, the Storey Co Sheriff has their offices right at the top of the road. Perfect place for a road block.

Also this event is hanging by a thread as it is with the many objections raised every year between the State of Nevada and the local residents. They are looking for an excuse to put an end to it. The other group that used to run an event there every year is now no longer welcome due to their lack of consideration of the local residents.

We work very hard every year to convince them that our presence provides a net benefit to the community and it gets harder every year. Don't forget we close their roads, deny them convienent access to their homes, make a lot of noise, some leave a lot of trash, for your fun, not theirs. All that so SOME local merchants can have more business.

From my perspective we are already very lucky they put up with us at all.
An event such as you describe could very well end it for everyone.

I didn't take long for a lot of people to see this.

Dennis Chiodo the Chairman of the event asked me to say on his behalf that,

    A. The Sheriff will be notified before end of business today to be on the lookout for anyone who appears to be practicing.

    B. The Sheriffs Dept's will give a report to the chairman of any tickets given on the hill and those persons will be banned from participating without refund of entry fees.

Sorry but the people from the FCA who have spent so many years running this event have become very protective of it in light of all the threats to it's existence. We also have a very strong desire to continue to be the good, responsible, well behaved guests they have a right to expect us to be.

Virginia City is their home, once a year they let us turn it into our playground WITH LIMITATIONS.
    Lets be respectful of that.

My apologies, we will not be running the truck route.

I just got off the phone with Dennis, he also explained the situation. I will put the word out to the local Ferrari owners to avoid Virginia City around the time of the Hill Climbs to avoid any problems.

    Sorry!!!!!

Having run the VCHC a number of times with the Audi club (until its' sad end), I am glad to see you guys are still able to pull off the event. I really miss running that event and may have to find some street legal tires and join you guys next year.

Out of curiosity, what were the top times of the weekend and what were the cars? Are the results going to be posted anywhere? Did Amir show up with his F40? He set the course record at the last Audi event with a 3:10.

    Thank you very much!
