    Hey guys -

I've had my 360 Spider F1 for a few months now. Love the car and I've had but one issue that I can't seem to sort out.

When shifting from 1st to 2nd, and only 1st to 2nd, there is at times some slight clutch slop under moderate throttle. This is when driving fairly normally....I would say 30~40% throttle shifting at 4.5K...those conditions seem to cause it the most. Light throttle or heavy throttle is no problem.

By slop I mean that it feels as if the car is applying throttle before the shift is complete. Instead of a nice crisp shift, I get a "waahh-WAHHH" as the clutch take up appears to be slow though the car is already applying throttle.

Sport mode or normal mode - same deal. Traction control on or off...

Light throttle, no problem (other then a very slow shift). Moderate thorttle shifting below 6K seems to cause it the most. Shifting higher seems fine and short shifting into 3rd seems okay too.

No other gear shift causes this.

Had it in for service recently and it appears to have all the current software (it's an '04).

It's not such a big issue that it affects much, but I must confess that it it makes me cringe a little and shake my head each time. I own 8 other cars, all standard manual cars and the F1 was an experiment to vary it up a little I guess. For the most part I like it just fine but this one issue....well, the resulting feeling is that of a sloppy shift that was beyond my control and that aspect, of not being the one responsible for a shift, either perfect or not so perfect, bugs me.

Anyone else ever experience this? The car has 1,600 miles so I'm fairly certain the clutch is still healty and exhibits no excessive slip symptoms...

Also, the F1 fluid level is proper and there is no throttle lift taking place during shifts (thorttle angle is held steady).

I've read about a PIS adjustment - anyone been on both sides of this kind of thing?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

It seems like you have to feather the throttle a bit to get a smooth take off. Mine is an '01. What does the tech say? Without actually driving it it's hard to figure out what you mean. It may still require an adjustment or it may be just the F1 and how you're handling it. Let us know what you find out.

Take offs are smooth and okay - it's just the shift from 1st to 2nd that's herky jerky at times with moderate throttle application. Light throtle = no jerkiness.

I have experienced the same issue on my 03' 360 when the car is cold and just out of the gate. I have to feather the shift from 1st to 2nd until the car reaches operating temperature. It shifts like a dream after reaching operating temperature. Does yours change after the car is at operating temperature? I brought it up with the service tech at the dealer and they checked it out and said all was fine and within tolerances.

It's possible...going to examine more in detail tonight. Once warmed up I'm typically not applying just moderarte throttle so I'll have to experiment some tonight. That said, I've noticed it doing it after a 15 minute drive...probably just not fully warmed up.

piperdan, was your issue just the 1st to 2nd shift too?
