Nice run and a quality video to boot!

Btw, the suspension on my GMC Sylcone was completed in time for the hillclimb, but I had absolutely no time left for setting up the handling and correct brake bias. Didn't want to figure it out on the hill.

I'll be ready for next year's run!

Out of curiosity, what were the top times of the weekend and what were the cars? Are the results going to be posted anywhere? Did Amir show up with his F40? He set the course record at the last Audi event with a 3:10.

    Thank you very much![/QUOTE]

Amir's F40 is being prepped for a try at the class record at Bonneville next August. His 3:10 was on race rubber. We require street legal rubber and as I recall he did about 10 sec slower with street tires.

As said elsewhere he drove his TR 512 and his times were hampered by the fact that we could not keep his clutch hydraulics working for an entire pass. When I drove his car to ck out the clutch I also noticed his brakes were sticking on (common 512 problem). I really don't think his low 3:40 times were representative of what he could do in a properly prepped 512 but he still wasn't going to get down to sub 3:30's.

While a 3:25 won in the blown Viper I thought the most impressive time was 3 3:28-3:29 runs in a row with a modified 67 Mustang, a 38 year old car. The suspension was heavily modified by Griggs Racing and it stuck like a kitty on a carpet.

If I have time in the next couple of days I will hook up the computer so I can access and and post some of the times but some of the fastest people were either not there this year or were driving different cars.

Anyone going substantially under 4 minutes without quite a bit of experience at that event is doing a good job. Anyone that has not driven up the hill at speed does not appreciate how intimidated a sane person should be at some of the streches on the road. No run offs, lots of cliffs and not many guard rails. Everyone did a good job, not so much as a spin this year.

BTW By unanimous decision the Copper/Red whatever 69 Camaro won the burn out contest. He kept it going past the start lights, very impressive.

    Rifledriver,

Thanks for the info. At the last Audi event when Amir went 3:10 on stickys in his F40, I took second with a 3:15 in my naturally aspirated Viper (also on stickys). My car is now several hundred pounds lighter (I finally stripped it and stuck in a cage/cell/etc) and has a bit more downforce, so I sure wanted a shot at Amir's time, but that is not to be.

Are Hoosier DOTs acceptable? I just might be able to come across a set by next year.

3:28 in a 67 Mustang is really hauling.

Please say hello to Amir for me and wish him luck in his Bonneville adventure.

    Best regards,
    Mike Horzewski

Brian, thanks for the update and info. Would love to see more times and any history you can offer.
Last year I drove a modified 67 mustang and I have driven the hill too(in the 360). It is very hard to imagine what kind of mods it would take to make those times consistently AND still stay on the mountain. Awesome results. The car I drove was fast but would scare the daylights out of me at speed on that run!

We accept any tire that says DOT on the side and is in safe condition.

I will wish him luck for you. It just so happens I will be there too as I work on a Lakester and I suspect I will be seeing him around the paddock.

For those of you who want to participate next year pray for a safe running of the Silver State. Nevada DOT has in so many words told us that another fatality in any of the over the road events will mean the end of all of them.
Very sadly there was a run of them a couple of years ago and it used up most of the patience and willingness that existed within NDOT. That approval is of course in addition to the continued good relationship we try so hard to maintain with the people of Virginia City, Silver City etc. and especially the residents on the hill itself.

No worries by the way thanks for the offer, it was really cool event all in all.Unfortunately we only got to stay for Saturday. My dad loves planes, thus we went to the Reno air races on Sunday. Hopefully next year they will be different weekends so I can stay for the whole thing. Thank you Brian, for getting me a ride. Also hi once again to all the Fchatters that I got to meet in person. Eric we gotta go to lunch or something next year. Hope to see all of you there next year and then some.

If it is possible to have too much fun, I just found it. I had the best time of my life! I met LOTS of really nice people. All of the board members and senior members made me feel right at home, and didn't tease me too much for not knowing what the hell I was doing...Helmet on? E-Brake off? don't forget to use BOTH LANES!--LOL
Seriously, you guys made the event an excellent weekend, and I just can't thank you enough,I really have never had so much fun.I have dreamed of racecars...drawn them...and loved allcars since I was a child. The first racing experience I had was at the dragstrip in fremont (baylands?), in the paddock, standing a few feet from a running, no, ROARING top fuel dragster shaking the ground like hundreds uf tiny explosions, and now I get to drive fast on a track myself, WHEE,--track days here I come......
Thank you Brian c & John O. for the tech advice...Mike for my birthday dinner thurs., and Dennis, Kevin, gil & april,Gina, Frank, Frank from the shelby side, Stan the Tiger man, Leslie, and thank you Ian, for the KICKASS INTRO RIDE!!! And many others I can't remember...THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, you really made me feel like one of the crew...I look forward to seeing you at many more SAFE years of this event.
Oh,this woman who drove her new mini up there did a mean pass...Looked great going into turn 7, where I worked. The shelbys were off the hook, too, going just as fast as the ferraris. 'BIG RED' (the winged one) was COOOOL!!! BTW I Placed 3rd in class. THIRD PLACE IN CLASS (308's & Mondials)!!!MY FIRST TIME DOING THIS. my best time was 4 minutes, 11 seconds ( i don't remembere the tenths) Some of the big boys in new cars, or older pros were pulling 3'20's to 3'40's...crazy on a mtn road w/ hundred plus ft dropoffs...well, It was ablast I'll never 4get...I also got "roasted" at the sun. banquet for "not using both lanes", and not keeping all four "feet" on the ground...once again thanks to all the fchatters who helped me online to actually get my car prepped to do this...This is a great group of people, and i can't wait to make new F-friends...
By The Way...Anyone out there got pics of me in action??? All I have is other people and pics of my car sitting in line...If I looked half as good os some of my pics of others...It'll make a great poster to hang as a rememberance...Thanx again guys your all cool...
